Shout-out to Barbara for her tip! Thank you! As a treat, reader Mariana P. shares a beautiful photo of a recent trip: “I’ve just been to the Azores (Island of São Miguel) and met this dear sweet cat, that snuggled in my lap purring while I was taking in the view of the tea plantations.”

Lovely kitty, lovely view, lovely way to spend a vacation!
I want to go there it looks wonderful.
Are flights booking for the connectors between the hover texts? I’d fly those purrways.
Long tiring day, so I’ve been browsing the Old Ranch archives. Between this beautiful kitty and the undergarment thief, my mood is restored!
Plus this oldie but goodie made me lol:

I’d forgotten this one–thanks for bringing it back! So funny.
Mariana, a few years ago, while visiting the hill towns near Sienna, my husband and I were walking along a back street in San Gimignano. We could hear ahead of us a kitty crying so I made all the appropriate kitty response noises and remarkably, just ahead of us, up on the wall there was a cat waiting for us. They say that music is a universal language, but cat language knows no boundaries. We were instant friends.
Non parle Italiano molto bene, but I do speak a bit of Cat-alonian, although I am not fluent.
Thank you for sharing your story!
When I’m travelling I always feel just a tiny bit homesick. Kittens, doggies and all animals make up for that in their welcoming unassuming ways. I find it reassuring.
Besides, she had the most gorgeous emerald green eyes..
I would be so tempted to smuggle her back in my luggage.
