First off, shout-out to Randy for using the tip jar! Thank you, Randy! Next, take a look at this picture from reader Elizabeth G., who spotted a secret squirrel clinging outside her second floor window.

I know you’re not supposed to love squirrels, but I love squirrels.
Why not? I love squirrels. But why can’t they ring the front doorbell like all the other animals?
Or bring their friend, Bullwinkle.
Yes, exactly.
I love squirrels, too, and get much enjoyment from their antics!
This is a pretty common site at my house. We may or may not encourage the squirrels with offerings of peanuts and seeds …. Here’s a video from our back patio:
A chipmunk! I love chippies and we don’ see them too often – I think they get picked off too easily. And that greedy squirrel that managed to score 3 peanuts. We feed our squirrels – we have black ones, too – and broadcast seeds so birds and squirrels alike can get some.
Send me some black squirrels, please. I’m about ready to kidnap a mating pair from the next county over!
??? ( no squirrel emojis!)
“We may or may not encourage the squirrels…”
That will never hold up in court, young lady.
Your Peanut Cam ROCKS!!!
I could watch this all day. I would be deep in debt from buying the peanuts and all the squirrels and chipmunks would be so fat. But it would be worth it.
I think I need to set up an animal cam on my back patio! I’m sure I miss a lot of the action. I live in a secluded area in the city, and I have chipmunks, skwerls, bunnies, numerous birds, and even the occasional raccoon. I encourage them all shamelessly! (Well, maybe not the raccoon…)
I watched the whole thing. The tight shot made each plunder a surprise. It took me awhile to realize there were four squirrels.
The black ones are not as common where I am so that was a treat to see them. I don’t see any chippies ever. I grew up in forest with hundreds of chippies.
My chippie is named Geronimo. He lives in my downspout.
Awesome.
Re: Faye’s comment: I know. I would totally invite her in for sunflower seeds. 🙂
This Spider-Squirrel move came after she finished building her nest in the gutter. I guess she’ll have to teach her little ones this maneuver when they need to move out.
Great pic! And squirrels’ bloomers are always so cute.
Ooo she has a nest. You will get to see her often. How nice.
Love the hover text, I used to watch Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole every Saturday morning when I was a kid.

I was just put in mind of a neighbor’s cat that used to”Garfield” our screen door in attempting to gain entrance.
Like this?
(The porch light was on and there were bugs buzzing about.)
My Boo is more relaxed when it comes to screens
He’s very elegant – looks like he’s waiting for an after-dinner sherry and the newspaper 😀
And a pipe – and, oh, yes, his slippers, brought to him by a small obsequious dog.
He’s only done that once, as far as I know (then again, usually the inside door is closed).
And I agree with Smartypants; Boo needs a nice after-dinner drink while he watches…whatever he’s watching.
Basically – I remember a ginger puss completely spread-eagled, but this will certainly do!???
I had a kitten named Harley that was always doing stuff like this. One day I came home from work and he had gotten himself stuck in the window, somehow climbing the inside of the screen and was sorta squished between the window and the screen. The funniest was the time tried to get out of the house through the mall chute that was in the wall. I didn’t see it myself but the neighbors told me they were walking by and saw his little head sticking out meowing. I would have loved to seen a picture of that.
My parents used to run an in-home business. I had been feeding birds and squirrels all winter, and come spring, most of them moved on. But one big grey girl knew a good thing when she saw it, and hung around. She would come in through the open bedroom window, steal a walnut from the bowl on the shelf, and head down the stairs to exit out the front door. Or she would wait till they sat outside after supper, climb their pant legs, and sit on their books, waiting for hazelnuts.
My parents stopped feeding her, cold turkey, when she started shaking down their customers for treats. But she remembered their kindness, and brought her babies to visit.
Wow!
