Chim-chim-i-ney, chim-chim-i-ney, chim-chim-cheroo
This poor duck got stuck o’er the chimney flue
The fire department knew just what to do
And they plucked her down in a daring rescue
Then they gave her a bath, and southward she… waddled.
By the way, this is not to be confused with Santa Duck.
I think this is the first time I have not gotten a cultural reference.
I did not “get” the title of this post.
At first I thought it was a British reference but as the fire company is here in the US (Golden CO to be exact) that didn’t make sense. Sooo I googled it and now I get it!! Remember Mary Poppins and the chimney sweep played by Dick Van Dyke? Guess what his name was??? BERT!!!
PS. And maybe the last word instead of waddled should be “Flew”??? Rhymes and plays on the previous flue, ha ha
Thanks, AJ!
I was just thinking of Bert yesterday! Something my husband said reminded me of supercaliphra – however the h*** you spell it!
WOW !
You’re good – I don’t get a lot of them.
Sorry if I was too cryptic! Maybe Monday isn’t the best day for brainteasers. Anyway, be sure to click the link in the post to read the full story from the fire department, along with more cute pictures.
I got the reference right away, maybe it’s an age thing, you have to be old enough to have seen the movie countless times on TV and have the words burned into you memory. Then again, like Mary Poppin, I am practically perfect in everyway.
Of course! You are a Cat Lady!?
Yeah, I can still sing all the Mary Poppins songs and it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen the movie. The Wonderful World of Disney (mandatory Sunday night viewing in the 70s) showed this movie a lot!
I’m gonna be singing this all afternoon.
This is my go-to version of Chim-chim-chimeree…
I’ll watch when I get home.
This is so cool! I’m a full on Disney obsessive (I even have a Disney tattoo and am planning another). This is such a wonderful interpretation of Disney magic.
Isn’t it? She is like a siren singing you to the rocks, magical indeed.
Ooh – she also does my other favorite Disney song, “Everybody Wants to be a Cat.” Love Scatman Cruthers in the original version. Now I got that going in my brain and I’m bopping in my chair at work!
great, thanks !
esperanza spalding is such a talent, vocally and on the base. Amazing young jazzer.
?agreed.
Very nice…soothing. Thank you for sharing!?
I sang the story of the goose to the tune of Chim Chim Cher-ee! and it worked wonderfully until the last line LOL!
Duck a la Soote
Ducks sure seem to need a lot of rescuing! Thanks to the kind firefighters for helping this silly goose of a duck!
