Hopefully name change doesn’t indicate that NTMTOM is skippin’ town! I love you Mike! And, all the wonderful cuteness you deliver daily.
Ack- July is about done….then comes August…then comes Santa. Or so it seems. I’ve been practicing being mindful. Staying in the moment. Breathing and listening to what is around me NOW! Damn, it’s hard!
Happy Saturday to all
gail
Nope, I’m not going away, nothing changes but the name.
A rose by any other name…well, you know the rest. Just so grateful for this refuge!
Hi Mike! The Logo is wonderful. Love the colors and shape of letters. It conveys THE CUTE! Nice going.
Great logo! I saw the duckling convoy earlier and now the kitteh belleh and love them both.
Congrats!
Good job on the name. The color change helps define the pronunciation for me.
I’m excited for you and for me having this place to visit and for all the people here!
Kitty huffs all around!
Yes, love the color change in the name!
Happy weekend, everyone!
??????
Allein – you are a one.
Congrats to Mike on the new logo – adorable – is that image a moveable feast like the last header? I do hope we see the slavering bassett hound from time to time!?
I just saw the banner change from a cat with two different colored eyes to a kitty belly – I guess my question is answered – moveable feast! Cool.
Mike said somewhere else there are 5 images. So I reloaded the page about 8 times until I saw them all. π
Well ain’t that randy old goat all likkered up???!! Love it! True story, the university I work at was purchasing goats for a school in Africa so I made my donation and asked the project leader to name it Harry after my father-in-law. I’d never met him as he died a few years before I married hubster but my understanding was that he was a real ladies man, wink wink nudge nudge.
If anybody ever wants to help a needy population by providing a goat, check out “Goats for the Old Goat.” It’s a wonderful charity that provides healthy, mature female goats (they have someone raise them to make sure they’re all in great shape) to be given to women in South Sudan who have been through, quite honestly, hell on earth, to help them provide not only for their families but for the whole village. It’s amazing what a single goat can do! And they eventually send you a picture of the person who was given your goat, holding their new family member. We did that for Christmas a couple years ago, and the pictures still make me want to cry happy tears!
My brother and I donated a goat through the Heifer Project last year for my mom’s Christmas present.
You can do the same thing through World Vision, also. They have a variety of domestic animals you can donate (goats, chickens, ducks, meat rabbits, sheep) plus other needed things, like mosquito nets, vitamins, bicycles, water purification kits, etc. Through their sponsorship program I help two girls as well, one in Hati and the other in India.
Love the new logo too. Now that we’re all residents of Cutetropolis, will Superman be making regular appearances?
As a cat lady I heartily approve of the kitty belly banner β€οΈ
I’ve been on strong antihistamine all week for an allergic skin reaction to I have no idea what. Here is my cat Boo is doing a good imitation of how I feel
I feel ya, Boo…
I wouldn’t be able to resist booping the tongue…
Oh, GiGi, feel better soon – if for no other reason to make your pussycat feel better!?
Our cat is named Boo also—because her white parts don’t show most of the time, making her a black cat, and, because we picked her up as a rescue from our vet on Halloween!
I can’t get a good pic of her, though I’ve tried, or I’d post one. She has the best personality!
Sorry to hear you’re uncomfortable! Skin reactions kinda have a way of dictating your very existence, don’t they? I have kind of a funny story about one though…
So back in 2014, I slipped on some seaweed and fell on a large rock. The result was at least one broken rib, possibly more. I wouldn’t know the exact number, though, as I never went to the doctor. They can’t do anything about them so why suck time and money out of the Canadian medical system?
The pain was pretty uncomfortable (like, please stop being funny, it hurts to laugh!) so my acupuncturist recommended some traditional Chinese medicine bandages loaded with menthol. OMG — they were magical! So soothing but, unfortunately, so sticky. I ended up having a really hard time peeling them off.
Skip ahead three days and I’ve got a raging RASH all over my torso that’s slowly creeping up my neck and down my thigh. Off to the doctor! I say, “I think I’m sensitive to the adhesive?” She takes one look at me and says, “Sensitive? SENSITIVE? You are having a full-on allergic reaction!! You should have been on Benadryl two days ago!”
Oops. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Funny thing is, the rash may have gone away but now if I use a band-aid, my skin breaks out in a rash where the adhesive makes contact. Even the latex-free sensitive skin ones!
So I guess this is a funny-haha and a funny-weird kind of tale.
Hope you’re well soon!
Here’s another one that should get regular use around here…
Dependsβ’
heehee!
Urine in pun territory, here. π
Oh, no, what did I start?! I’m sorry!
Not really sorry.
Well, maybe just a wee bit sorry.
π
Also relevant…
…the ONLY way I’m gonna come up with a pun.
There’s a blog I read that often devolves into puns in the comments, and usually either I’m reading hours later and it seems pointless to post, or I’m reading while it’s in progress and I can’t think of anything good. So frustrating!
Also, I will confess to sometimes googling in hopes of finding something good.
That makes me feel a wee bit better!? (It took me three reads of your “wee” comment to get that it was another pun.*sigh*)
I’m sneaky that way.
My sister texted me to ask me to remove kittens from her yard, since she has a dog who tends to kill small animals. I got a trap from the animal shelter thinking I’d take them to the shelter once I had them. I was told they have no more space for cats. I can’t leave kittens at the mercy of a dog, the traffic, or the elements, so I decide to get them anyway. Unfortunately they are too little to trigger the trap. My sister managed to grab one and bring it to me. She went to the vet yesterday and she weighs 1.8 lbs, is likely 6 to 8 weeks old, had worms, and a botfly larvae (ick) in her neck. For a feral kitten, she is in pretty good shape, and is starting to adjust to people. I am still attempting to catch the other one.
Poor little kitteh! Botfly ICK! People have GOT to neuter/spay their cats!! There are roving clinics where you can get it done for $10 or $20! Shelters around here are overflowing! Every state should have a spay/neuter/release program. Thanks for taking care of that baby.???
Warning: Googling bot fly larvae is not for the faint of heart. There are you tube vids of them being removed from animals if you are really curious. Keep your cats inside!
I did not watch the removal, and the Dr brought it back in the room and said, “Some people are curious and want to see them, do you want to look?” I said “no thanks, I’ve seen that episode of Monsters Inside Me”
What sucks about our shelter being full is, they have a total of like 32 pens in the cat room. Currently 16 of them are full of cats with tags that say “not available for adoption, held for court” In other words, they were confiscated from a hoarder and the shelter has to keep them until court. We don’t have any roving clinics that come through here, we are not that big, but you can get a discount coupon from the animal shelter. Also, if you adopt a cat, it’s already fixed, and has it’s shots and a microchip. The adoption fee is $25 this time of year. This one will be fixed, we have an appt in 3 weeks to start immunizations and will schedule a spay then.
I’m but a gray citizen of Cutetropolis with no authority whatsoever, but for me, you’re the Cutetroolis Hero (Heroess)! Kudos for how much you care for the kitties! ??
Aw, what a cutie-pie! THANK YOU for saving teh kitteh! Please keep trying to get the other one and maybe the mama?
Unfortunately Mama seems to have disappeared in the last 2 days. If mama were around, she would be heavy enough to trigger the trap. I know the dog didn’t get her, because the dog will bring her kills into the house. I love that dog, she is so sweet, other than her prey drive. They live on a very busy street, so it’s a sure bet she was hit by a car. This kitten is curious enough to allow herself to be caught, and actually seems to love the doting attention my husband gives her. She is still likely to dart under the couch if someone enters the room, but she doesn’t stay there long, and she will walk up to you and rub on your legs until you pick her up and pet her.
Good on you Patty! And I agree paying and neutering all cats and dogs should be a law in both the US and Canada.
Here’s another kitten-saving story to inspire you in your efforts: https://www.thedodo.com/kitten-family-rescued-1944834441.html?utm_source=The+Dodo+Newsletter&utm_campaign=3c09bbddde-07_30_2016_NL&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_4342b46fc5-3c09bbddde-142458645
Tears-in-eyes story
Awww. good for you, Patty. I hope this all has a happy ending. I’m sure you’ll keep us up to date?
Poor baby! You’re a great person, Patty. Kitty needed you.
Congrats on the new name and logo. I always enjoy the daily serving of cute here!
I didn’t notice that it said Formerly Not That Mike but the Other Mike’s Superstore until I changed the bookmark. Love it!
Ok, the whole “formerly Not That Mike the Other Mike’s Muffler Superstore” thing made me snicker, and I haven’t even had my Saturday coffee yet. Well played! π
Are we talking cars or knitted goods?????
Heh heh *snerk*
It’s where I get all my mufflers.
I could use some mufflers as I often find myself making strange noises while reading here…
Good one! ?
Huff a kitteh belly! Good one!
Would gladly huff that belleh! I love the rotating banners, too.?
The bicolored cat eyes are a little eerie, tho!
Love the new logo, NTMTOM! It’s bright and cheery and very helpful for those of us who don’t know how to pronounce things without some assistance! I hope the change brings you lots and lots of new readers.
We’re having a quiet weekend. My poor hubby got tripped up by the dogs a week ago — Sebastian wrapped the leash around his legs while Melody spotted a RABBIT!!! and lunged with all her might — and he ended up with a bruised hip from knee to waist, so painful he thought he’d broken it for a while. (The ER said he hadn’t, fortunately.) He had to fly to the West Coast for his mom’s 90th birthday, and the lady sitting next to him had a broken ankle courtesy of her dog. Clearly, pet ownership is dangerous! π But anyway, he’s home now and not quite feeling as bad. But between us, we take turns not being able to sleep. Last night it was his turn. I feel bad for him, but there’s not much I can do except offer sympathy! He still can’t walk very much, so between the two of us we’re a fine pair of hobblers.
I’m going to be working all weekend again. The joys of self-employment. Considering it’s already rained here once this morning, however, I’m probably not missing a whole lot. And who knows what the Candidate and her Veep choice will be doing. They were both busy yesterday, keeping us busy until well into the evening transcribing their immortal words. Seriously, why would they have needed us to transcribe her speech Thursday night, when every news organization in the country and probably half the world was doing the exact same thing? I don’t understand. Oh well. But as long as they pay me what they do, I’ll keep transcribing! π
I hope everybody has a good weekend! Gigi, feel better soon! Antihistamines can really play havoc with your energy level. Be good to yourself!
Thanks, hope your hubby and you make friend with Morpheus.
Confession: I spent the morning hunting Pokemon.
Wow! It would never occur to me to do that. Good for you.
Did you catch ’em all?
Anyone going to their local Barnes & Noble’s Harry Potter release party tonight?
No, I’m going to a lobster dinner where they fly the lobster in the same day (a friend is a pilot) – my apologies to the true blue vegetarians/vegans. I’m not totally veggie, not sure I can be, but I do indulge sometimes in animal products.?
PS I just realized that many things we do is to keep us off the streets, but this Pokemon search is a ruse to get people ON the street!
OMG didn’t know there was one! My e-copy will be released at midnight, and I didn’t even think about live parties.
Yeah, they’re doing all the hoopla again. I’ve seen some really creative decorations on Facebook that various stores have been working on over the past couple of weeks (it’s a closed group, though, so I can’t share). Doesn’t look like the store near me is going too crazy, though, unless they’ve put stuff up in the last couple days since I was last there. I’m debating stopping by later just to see but I didn’t order the book so I definitely won’t be staying until midnight. I’ll look at it later and decide if I want to get it or not. I’m sure they’ve printed plenty.
Oh, a quick note for HP fans – there’s a marathon of the movies all this weekend on “Freeform” TV (formerly ABC Family).
Alas, Lily can no touchy the fishy…
Aw, sorry, Lily. Not so fierce against that fishy force field, huh?
I know, right? What is that evil magic????
Anyone who needs kitteh belleh for huffing step right up… I have some fresh this morning. Just be careful of the sharp pointy bits!
The line forms right behind me!
Oh for heavens sake, she is a cutey! And yes, kitten needle teeth and claws are brutal.
Conked out by love. What a sweet belly.
Poor Lily.
A warm lap to sleep in, an extended family to worship you, life is so tough…
The rain has come.
That may affect whether I decide to go to the HP party tonight. Calling for scattered thunderstorms by 8pm…
Today is my birthday and new site revealed. What a felicitous happenstance! Me luv u long time.
Happy Birthday! π
Thank you! <3
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jen Baz!
(Do you suppose those are hammy nosies
Adorning that cake that he holds with his toesies?)
…I hope not!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
Happy birthday, Jen Baz! There’s no better way to celebrate than with Teh Cute!
Thank you!!
Happy Birthday Jen! I hope you are having a great day.
Thank you! Shopping with my bestie and homemade pizza with LOTS of bacon. Yes, a good day was had. <3
Birthday bacon. Good for you. Happy birthday.
Arrived in the Midwest yesterday after a very long day of traveling (including 17 episodes of a popular science based sitcom back to back). Now I’m suffering jetlag something fierce, but enjoying the chorus of cicadas and hanging out with the ‘rents <3
What about huffing puppy bellies?
Bc I have definitely done that today.
*pouts* I got no kitteh or puppeh belleh to huff today?.
New logo is aces, Mike, conveys the message exactly.
Glad to see ya!
Late to the game here, was out most of the day.
Congrats to Mike, great job!
Happy Birthday, Jen Baz!
Hang in there , Laura!
Feel better, Gigi!
Kudos to Patty, kitty rescuer, literally.!
Allein, the rain in central Jersey was ark-worthy this afternoon,
202 had some flooding gushing out of a field onto the whole
southbound side. Much cooler now. Yay!
Where were you? I didn’t get any downpours. It’s raining right now and I heard a few rumblings of thunder a while ago, but nothing ark-worthy so far. I had to open my front door just now and look out to even be sure it was really raining because the pavement doesn’t even look obviously wet through my window (which, to be fair, could use a good cleaning).
We”re having rain but a slow steady drizzle. As I’ve said before, like walking into a dog’s mouth around here. I can’t remember such humidity, really oppressive.
Seems to be a pretty steady rain, but no thunder since this afternoon. Also it’s almost 9:30 and apparently I am not going to check out the Harry Potter party. I’ve been listening to podcasts and doing laundry.
Between Bridgewater/Somerville and Flemington.
‘Twas a doozy, difficult driving.
Ah. I’m a bit southeast of there (about 30 miles east of Trenton). Still raining here though. When my alarm went off this morming I was confused cuz it seemed so dark in my room. Felt more like my weekday 6:15 alarm than 9:30.
And the rain got harder as I was typing that last sentence. I have to go out later, too…
I forgot to tell a cute story about the 3-year-old next door who absolutely ADORES our silly greyhound. Even though they got their own Cavalier King Charles spaniel, she still loves Melody first and best.
So the other day my hubs took over a couple of small gifts he’d bought in Oregon for her and her parents to thank them for helping me out while he was gone, and the adorable, talkative child who is at that age where she has no filter asked, “Can we walk just Melody? We don’t like walking Sebastian — he poo poos too much!” Her poor father nearly DIED of embarrassment, as you can imagine, while we thought it was the funniest thing we’d heard in forever! (Plus she’s right! He never fails to go at least twice, even on just a short walk, and has been known to manage four times in a half-hour walk! And it’s not diarrhea, either!)
So now we joke every day about how much he poo poos on his walks. I know her dad will find it funny someday, but I’m not so sure that’s going to happen any time soon. π
For those of you old enough to remember Art Linkletter, that was how he made a fortune, asking kids questions on his show to the utter mortification of their parents in the audience. π
That was the best part of his show.
His easy way with the kids was charming.
Does anyone remember the little boy with
the deep gravelly voice? He was so funny.
Very straight-faced, serious, and sounding
middle-aged.
Might be a bit treacherous these days to try the same
format. Kids are hearing and seeing so much more
shall we say, profanity, etc.
Probably. But it was the first thing we thought of after hearing our adorable neighbor’s painfully true comment! π
Nomtommers (are we still Nomtommers or do we need a new name?) I need your help. We need to force NTMTOM to provide a mailing address so that we can send him things. Like mufflers. Even a PO box would be good. Anyone else feel the same?
The new collective name would be Cutetropolitans. Works for me!
Or Cutetropolites??
Nothing against your idea, N Fritz, but I thought that read ‘politicians ‘.
I’ve got it! We are “Cuties”!
“Cuties” is short and easy to pronounce and spell, so that gets my vote at this juncture!
Sounds good!
Ummm, that sounds a little bit “stalker-ish” to me, Duckie. (Re: address)
You could be right.
Sigh
Oh, I don’t know. The ladies of my favorite podcast, Stuff You Missed in History Class, provide an address (via their work, howstuffworks.com), and they get the coolest stuff from fans. Lots of postcards, but also handmade crafts and art. NTMTOM deserves fan mail too!
Maybe this is what I was thinking of. Mike?
I have considered getting a PO box, actually. It makes sense, especially since I have some future product ideas where a physical mailbox would be useful. I’ll let you folks know when I get one.
Cutetropoleenios?
Cakewrecks Sunday Sweets Goes Pokemon!
“Not sure which I like more: this cake (the giant rose! The sprinkles edging!) or that catty death stare. Let’s call it a tie. And then back away slowly.”
That cake is awesome–love Cake Wrecks, too.
Hey peeps! It is my birthday today and this was me entering my party earlier on this afternoon. http://coub.com/view/3zk1q
Seriously though, had a great day– excercised, coffee, walk along the lake, hearty brunch, matinee with a good friend — (Star Trek, which was a lot of fun, actually my favourite of the reboot thus far), and then early dinner (crab cakes and steamed mussels) , walk in the park and two scoops of ice cream ( toasted coconut and chocolate peanut butter.)
I am a very happy, lucky, grateful gal. π
Nice suit. π
Happy birthday!!
Thanks Allein! π I felt it was an age-appropriate outfit choice which demonstrated my maturity, life-skills and wisdom… I truly feel as happy and delighted as putty-tat in the picture.! Thank you again. π
I missed the party, Fkawaldenpond! I was away yesterday, in Leonia NJ to see a friend play the part of Alfred P. Doolittle in a community theater production of My Fair Lady. Great fun. Judging from the entrance you made I ask how you could NOT have fun! I like the little paddy bits on the hips – just what we all need, little paddy bits on the hips.
I’m happy you can still flip your hips like that. Happy Birthday. ?
Thank you Murray C. and Faye! π
