Modern art can sometimes perplex, but one exhibition didn’t go over anyone’s head — it went straight to the dogs. Recently,ย British artist and inventor Dominic Wilcox staged an exhibition titled “Play More” featuring installations to inspire the canine mind, such as a giant kibble bowl, a car ride simulator, and artistic depictions of meat.

It “makes its own gravy” – are you referring to the pee that will be all over the art installations?
?
I guess art has finally gone to the dogs!
I’m sorry, the doggies are really cute and NTMTOM comments are as funny as ever but that art exhibition is one of the silliest things I’ve seen in a long time. And I don’t mean silly in a good way.
I’m with you Gigi; cynical me thinks they will have pottery classes for dogs soon… Wait a second, if they did I bet a sibling of mine would sign up the dogs. *sigh* ๐
Oh, yes, some people seem to have too much time on their hands. Tho’ the spoken premise was to get people to spend more time with their pets and I’d have to agree that’s a worthy goal.
I agree but then, there is this! ๐
And he probably had to walk to obedience school! I love this doggie and his Irish cap.
And chase it uphill, both ways, in six feet of snow, with no shoes.
I agree, Gigi. An art exhibition for dogs? What a waste of time and effort. Just think how many dogs could have been rescued, fostered, or fed for the money this nonsense must have cost.
That said, the dogs themselves are cute.
The disconnect I have with this art exhibit is that dogs can’t really “see” inanimate objects in the same way humans can because they have a different makeup of cones and rods in their eyes (versus humans). So, if something isn’t moving, dogs don’t really see it.
The ball pit makes sense for a dog, but the paintings and meat sculptures do not, unless they move and emit a meat smell.
Hmm, I totally hear your concerns, but I see it as basically just a really clever marketing event for the insurance company that sponsored it. I think it’s no different than their running a TV ad, or sponsoring a pop star’s tour, or putting their name on a sports arena – it’s certainly cuter than the commercials with that darn gecko.
Just my thoughts. And I love the dachshund!
Agreed! Cute sells!
I tried to imagine what an art exhibit would be like for kittehs…..
Perhaps a Christo-style installation made entirely of yarn?

Still life paintings of bowls of noms.
…and every day, a different Mystery Guest rolling hundreds of tinfoil balls…
