The Call of the Mild

In every life, there are a handful of “greatness moments” — defining opportunities that challenge us to take that next step into the unknown, to leave our comfort zones and become part of a larger world. Clearly, this is not one of those moments.

I’ve lost track of who sent this, so thank you, whoever you are.

I love how flat the pupper gets.

Yes, and in stages including the ears.

The rare and beautiful Deflatable Retriever.

All of the above! How totally funny and sweet

It just occurred to me that this site is the only place that I know of that has a “5 minute edit” option.

If FB and Twitter had a “5 minute edit” option, the Internet would be a much better place.

You can edit comments on FB. Also, other readers can see the version of a comment before it was edited. With Twitter, one can only delete a message entirely and write a new one.

I think the difference is here you actually have a visual prompt saying that that you have 5 minutes to edit, which introduces the idea that maybe you should review what you wrote. Most likely, all the editing done here is to correct grammar and typos.

I think the Twitter/FB equivalent would be a prompt asking “Are you sure you want to post this for the entire world to see? Just in case, we’ll queue this for 5 minutes and let you think about it.” Just like when you delete something, most software programs ask you if you are sure.

I wish that was a true thing! *sigh*

Such a smart puppy! He studied the situation, taking into consideration his weaknesses (walking down bare, slippery stairs) and strengths (looking cute until someone human feels compelled to help him) and applied his strategy.

I love watching dogs and cats figure things out. You can practically see the wheels turning inside their heads.

      • Ricky's Mom August 31, 2016 / 1:35 pm

        That’s so true!

I’m with you puppy, it’s not worth the effort , someone will come along and do it for you. Or if not, no big deal. That’s exactly the way I felt this morning.

    Flattens into a pupcake.

    • Clairdelune August 31, 2016 / 12:03 pm

Pupcake! What a perfect name! A delicious little pupcake to be served with a goodly amount of kisses.
OK, I can’t help it, those soft ears just do weird things to the “motherly lobes” in my brain (am sure there’s such a structure in there, somewhere!) 😀 😀

I agree with you about the ears. I’m sure they are why fleece blankets were invented. So people could wrap themselves in puppy ears.

        • 6rabbits September 1, 2016 / 7:37 am

          ???

        • Clairdelune September 1, 2016 / 12:37 pm

No doubt!! Lots of fleecy blankets around here. Best use: make a cup of tea, sit and place fleecy blanket on lap and wait for kitty to claim the lap. Enjoy the tea while kitty purrrrrrs. Best tranquilizer in the world.
          😀 😀 😀

Smart puppy! It’s hard to learn how to go down stairs! I’m still learning. I should’ve done that before I went down my basement steps on Sunday, but NOOO!, I had to go and trip down the stairs and now it’s off to the chiropractor with a sore neck and shoulder!

    • Duckie ? August 31, 2016 / 1:32 pm

      Owie!

    • Ricky's Mom August 31, 2016 / 1:36 pm

      Oucharoonie! Feel better soon!

      • Murray C. August 31, 2016 / 2:10 pm

Yes, hope your “eggs and pins” (as my husband calls them) are a thing of the past and soon!

  7. Faye August 31, 2016 / 1:16 pm

I sent this in! Glad everyone is enjoying fluffy flat puppy. And I agree about feeling like pup, I’m just shy of a nap.

    • Murray C. August 31, 2016 / 2:12 pm

Yaaaaa-a-at Faye! And I’m right with you on the nap – one is in my immediate future.

    • allein ? August 31, 2016 / 2:17 pm

      I just got up. 😉

      • Faye August 31, 2016 / 9:11 pm

I slept soundly for almost two hours. Dreaming, very refreshing.

    Steps are scawwy.

  9. Murray C. August 31, 2016 / 9:28 pm

I just noticed the way his ears move forward at the very end of the clip – extra cuteness points – if that’s even possible.

    • allein ? August 31, 2016 / 9:30 pm

You just made me hafta go watch it again..

      • Murray C. August 31, 2016 / 9:45 pm

Oh, and the little smack of the lips immediately preceding.

        • allein ? August 31, 2016 / 9:53 pm

          sigh… *clicks play once more*

can I just get a repeating gif?
