Before the invention of carpet tacks, well-to-do English homes would secure their carpet to the stairs by means of specially trained bulldogs. British bulldogs, well known for their stubborn, tenacious nature and resemblance to Winston Churchill, who had not been born yet, were trained from birth to stay in one spot and keep the carpet from coming loose.

Oh Reggie, you little rebel!
I like Reggie. He’s a rebel.
You see. They did things right in the old days. Give me a few good bulldogs over some lousy metal nails anyday!
So let’s see … from top to bottom we have:
1. Algernon (Algy)
2. Archibald (Archie)
3. Ethelbert (Bertie)
4. Montmorency (Monty)
5. Reginald (Reggie)
and
6. Jack (Throat-Warbler Mangrove)
I’ve always wondered who babies looked like before Winston Churchill was born.
I’ll have the full number 4 please ?
I just got that! Hahaha
Where are Nigel and Clive?
Probably out on the veranda with
Felicity and Beryl, what?
Reggie looks like he’s about to do a bit of spot and bother on their precious carpet!
Uh…you got one there bucking the system!
This arrangement is also the reason why Victorian gentlemen stayed at their club instead of trying to sneak home at 4 o’clock in the morning!
You can tell, Reggie marches to the sound of his own accordion.
Yikes! That’s my car!
You seriously drive that car, now?! Badass 😀
No. Silly. It’s like my luck, there’s a goat on my car.
Aaaahhh, we cover insurance wise a lot of collectible and antique cars; so we have women clients who drive some pretty cool automobiles. I hope you have a good day Faye!
Kia Soul. All black. That’s sporty enough for me!
