How We Got the Wombat

Ah, the wombat — the cuddliest, most rambunctious creature ever to grace God’s country. But did you ever wonder how they came here? Legends say it was thanks to just one man, who walked the length and breath of Australia to deliver wombats to every home. “Wombats here! Get’cher wombats!” he’d yell, and no matter how many times he reached into his magic bag o’wombats, there was always one more. And so he became known far and wide as Thaddeus Wombag.

All right, so it’s not as catchy as “Johnny Appleseed.”

I… I never got to thank him, Sharon H.

The one in the bag – oooof! Elbow on his head! Has a sort of put-upon expression on his wombatty face. And is that a lemon tree? Seems like a magical fairy land to me – citrus, wombats, misty environment that is good for the skin (though bad for my thick hair)…..

How deep do you plant those? Head up or down? Are they perennials or annuals? So many questions.

I’ve got a loverly bunch of wombates.

Oh and I have just seen one of the recommended posts is “Poot me down, please”, which I loved mostly because of the guy’s awesome pronunciation. It is so easy to entertain someone (=me) that learnt this language from books 🙂

    .. I don’t if this will help …

Aw, Duckie, I hope you feel better soon.

    Still haven’t heard from Heike!

Wombats will always win the day for me – thanks, Mike. Of course, now I have the ear worm “Oh, the Lord is good to me And so I thank the Lord For giving me the things I need The sun and the rain and the apple seed, The Lord is good to me.” Something from my youth – and I daresay, many of our youths. Of course the myth of Johnnie Appleseed and the real story are about as far apart as (spoiler alert) losing a tooth is to the Tooth Fairy.

Okay now that I have quit ogling the wombats and am taking a good look at the fellow…does he not resemble a wombat ever so slightly?? Not as cute, but…?

    • Murray C. November 23, 2016 / 8:21 pm

Have to admit, I don’t see that – maybe if he gained 50 lbs or so.

But! I want to take this opportunity to wish everybody in the land of Cutetropolis a
Very Happy Thanksgiving – we have so much to be thankful for – even in our darkest hours we have so much. A song I dearly love has a line that says “Enough is as good as a feast any day”! So here’s a health to you all, thank you for being such a terrific group of Cyber Pals, and here’s to the author of the feast – Mike! Hip Hip Hooray!

I am looking at the nose and downward curve of his lips – like the muzzles.

        • Faye November 24, 2016 / 7:39 am

Yup. He is definitely a wombat/human hybrid of some sort. That’s how they infiltrate.
