My SIL said he wanted to use these tips for dinner, but he doesn’t have a dog to warm the butter, wondered if the baby would be a good substitute. He also posted last night that he had taken the turkey out of the freezer, and intended to put it in the oven at 160 degrees at 11 today so it’d be ready by noon. My SIL is weird, funny, and silly. He refers to himself as Uncle Dad to the foster baby.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving day, I know I will.

Your SIL sounds great – his plan reminds me of those kindergarteners’ recipes that always circulate on Thanksgiving – “cook the turkey at a thousand degrees for two minutes, serve with seaweed…” LOL

Hope you & your family have a great T-day!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

As we go around the table and each take a moment to list one thing for which we are thankful, I must say “Thank you NTMTOM for this wonderful and safe place, and thank you to each and every member of this generous and loving community”

Could not have said it any better.
      Amen!

Poor dog, didn’t get to eat the turkey. I hope some was cut off for him. ?

    Brilliant video!

Last night, the couple across the hall from me were cooking their turkey and their stove caught on fire (they said there were big flames shooting everywhere). So Thanksgiving Eve was more exciting than I expected it to be with a small army of firefighters in my hall. Cute fireman #8 said turkey-cooking-fires are more common than you’d think. So today I am thankful for the quick response of the NYFD, that no one was hurt and that neither their apartment nor my apt building became engulfed in flames. And, I’m also thankful for this uplifting and funny site!

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Yikes! So glad to hear everything turned out OK – yay for firefighters and other rescue personnel.

Gee, wonder if I could train Dobby to do this?? This was so cute and funny at the same time – loved how he softened the butter. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Someone on a Facebook group I belong to has a pet named Dobby. She’s a duck. 🙂

I’ve showed this video to my Austrian high school engineering students all week to introduce the concept of Rube Goldberg machines. It got them to practice English grammar, too! “The vegetables are catapulted into the turkey!” is a good use of passive voice!

Yes. And that happens quite often in US kitchens.
