Today’s heartwarming animal adoption story comes from reader Hilda K., whose cat recently took in a litter of orphaned gnomes. The infant gnomes, who still have their soft outer covering, will nurse for several months until they grow big enough to develop the hard ceramic coating that will allow them to stand motionless in the garden for months at a time.

There’s no place like Gnome for the holidays.
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like……
Gnome on the range..
Keep them off the stove!

*helpless giggling*
Me too! And I needed this right now as I’m trying to deal with finding my mom new health insurance for next year. AAARRRRRGGGHHHH! As I told my brother, I may take up drinking.
“My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.” One of my all-time favorite lines from Animal House.
Good luck. That can’t be fun.
Hi AJ – sending supportive thoughts your way – I’ve dealt with the same process – the finances, cleanout, etc. Do whatever you can to take care of yourself (tamales are good, LOL!).
Tamales are good but booze is better, LOL.
Fantastic knitting, and a very sweet kitty.
Three, it’s a magic gnomeber…
Schoolhouse Rock! Loved those videos.
And what adorable little gnomes.
You’re killing me today, Mike!
Show me the way to go gnome
I’m tired and I wanna go to bed…
I nursed 3 gnomes about an hour ago,
and it’s gone straight to my head …..
As Socrates use to say: Gnome thyself.
To Thine Gnome-self be true
Excellent!

The Garden Of Cynicism. Unfortunately you need a hard ceramic coating to cope. We’re all soft and cute when we first start out.
…fortunately this is a place where we can take off our hard ceramic coating for a while…
Awww, too true. But here in Cutetropolis we can nurture the softer side.
That kitteh doesn’t look overly pleased by the interlopers. There could be tears and mayhem in the near future….
You all are so funny! I’m laughing so hard. 🙂
Same here! Everyone is too funny! Made my day thanks Mike and the lesser-gnome cutropolites!
A gnomenclature has been established!
Gnomatter how you look at it, that’s just punny!
I want a gnome apocalypse for Christmas!
Only a gnome apocalypse will do!!!
Gnombies. Nomming.
Don’t you mean “gnomming”?
AAAARRRRGGGGh-h-h-h! Funny, tho’.
BadaBing! (I have a history with the song you’re parodying – has something to do with why my husband fell in love with me.)
OK, I’m slow…..what is the song?!
“I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”
