If you missed today’s Rose Parade coverage, the big (very big) hit was the float for Lucy Pet Foundation, double record breaker for the longest and heaviest float in the Rose Parade. That’s because it carried a tide pool generating waves every 45 seconds for the cutest surfer dogs ever! Righteous, dudes!
Joey UR brilliant. Literally in tears watching. So proud 2 know U! #roseparade #LucyPet #SPAYandNEUTER @JoeyHerrick & @LUCYPETFDNπΉπΎπΉ pic.twitter.com/boRPGqlXSC

Fantastic on so many levels. Projects like this one help restore my battered faith in humanity.
So cute! Makes me want to learn to surf…in a 2 foot deep, clear pool only, of course. With puppies.
Sounds about right, heated pool – prefer no observers – but pups, yes!
Best float ever!????
It’s the Big Doghuna! And there’s even a little Gidget surfing with him. They looks like they are having the time of their life!
Ani update: She’s back home from the vet, resting in her favorite spot, still seeming a bit sleepy from the anesthesia. Starting tomorrow, I have to give her a dose of pain medicine by squirting it into her mouth. That ought to be a barrel of laughs.
Awwww. Hang in there, Mike! Feel better soon, Ani!
Oh yes. I remember trying to squirt medication into my cats’ mouths. Hah! Mostly ineffective and requiring days of assiduous sucking-up to get back into their good graces. It’s my impression that bunnehs also take offense?
I think bunnehs ALWAYS take offense π
Mike, glad to hear she’s back safe & sound (I always worried, even when it was totally routine). Thanks for the update!
NTMTOM, I’m going to presume the vet showed you, one or two ways to give the meds through a syringe. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to keep Ani still, while sticking syringe in the side if her mouth. Best of luck.
They explained it, didn’t show me because Ani was still stoned in her carrier. Does her mouth need to be open for this, or can I sneak in from the side of her mouth as you describe?
You should be able to gently sneak thru the side, toward back of mouth but if not, lift up side of mouth. If Ani isn’t big, it may help to lay a towel on a counter top and lean over her, with her back end against you.
OK, thanks for the tip. I may practice with water so as not to waste the medicine.
It also helps to sort of clamp your left elbow down on her hind end (so she can’t back up) and when you put the syringe in her mouth – there’s a space between a bun’s front teeth and the back molars that you aim for – and gently lift her head up by lifting the syringe – that helps all the meds go where they should. I hope all this makes sense – after you’ve done it a couple of times it will, I think. Good luck. OH – -* if the bun’s right side is next to you you’ll be going in the left side of her mouth.*
I really don’t know anything about buns– now that she is neutered, will her personality mellow? How do lady bunnies behave when they are in heat?
Good luck with liquid painkiller Mike; is it flavoured?
The label says it’s orange flavor! I wouldn’t mind if Ani mellowed out a little bit. She likes to dig on the sofa cushions and on my shirt when she’s sitting on me. I’m told this is a territorial / nesting behavior. I indulge it, but she has also gone to the bathroom on the sofa twice, so I have to mind her closely.
Best to not indulge too much. And look for the tail lifting – a sure sign she’s about to pee. Good time to take her to her litter. Also, might be good to have some old fabric covering on your nice sofa when she’s on it. Those sorts of behaviors don’t really change too much – our Clemmie has gotten into a new annoying habit – she’s penned, so not a destructive issue. She has been decimating the cardboard tubes we have for them to run through. (they’re cement forms, get at home centers, cut them into whatever length you want) She leaves all this detritus on the floor every day. Not a biggie, just annoying.
Good to hear everything went well and she’s home.
Well, this ought to be a good indication that 2017 is off to a fantastic start!
Wonderful.
OMG, too cute!! Love the surfer doggies and WOW what a float. I’m just in awe in how they made it and actually drove it!
*sigh* The one year I miss watching the parade and this happens… So cool!
Good to hear that Ani is doing alright, Mike.
