Although critics in his time dismissed his work as mawkish and derivative, collectors have taken a renewed interest in the work of cubist painter Ernesto Froinloin (1894 – 1967), whose stylized renderings of deconstructed kittens (such as Corrugated Flamingo Taco Sauce Omniverse II, below) speak to the sensibilities of today’s cat-oriented Internet audience.

My neck hurts…
Don’t worry I have your back.
It looks like they are doing the kitten version where you sit on the ground back to back with a friend and push against each other to stand up.
Except in the kitten version you push against the back of your friend to walk sideways up the sides of a box.
Such creativity in these kitty’s play. ๐
I want to snorgle …. I will start with the grey-eyed one but intend to snorgle both in turn.
Sounds good – I’ll start at the other side to keep it symmetrical ๐
I love the spirit of cooperation we have in this endeavor.
I cannot decide which is funnier, the kittens or the ferret.
Boneless babies, Picasso ing it up like the little Dali’s they are!
This piece really speaks to me, especially since it is attached to the ceiling. You can see the ceiling tiles behind the frame.
I do think this is a tad earlier than mid-century. In any case, Froinloin does seem to be greatly influenced by Purrblo Picatsoโs surrealist works, more than the cubism of Gorgeous Barque.
Don’t forget about Katdinsky.
In the speckelings of the fur do I detect a slight influence of Jackson Pollcat?
Is this truly Art, or is it an Ikea KatKit and they just left out the little Allen wrench?
I see where you get your name. ?
If this is indeed the case, I will happily take over the problem and make a run to IKEA for the part needed. I’ll have to keep all the bits and pieces with me.
Thanks, Haha! I’ll look at the instructions and help with the project ๐
