Today is Respect Your Cat Day, and few cats deserve as much respect as the cats who roam Istanbul. Owned by no one, loved by all, they are the silent spirit of this ageless city, and the subject of Kedi, a documentary that follows seven of Istanbul’s cats as they live and roam the city that’s truly theirs. Visit the official Kedi website for screening dates.
Pass the popcorn, Murray C.
It’s also Something on a Stick Day. Hmm, maybe corndogs and popsicles for dinner? Or as Jeff Foxworthy would say “Jose Jalepeno …. on a STEEK”, lol.
How about a caramel apple AJ?
On our trip to Athens Greece it was the same way. Meows everywhere outside…quite how I imagine heaven to be. =)
I know Greece is the same way. Was there about 30-40 years ago (geez, has it been that long??!!!) and anywhere you went – churches, the markets, the shops, the tavernas – there were cats everywhere. I was obsessed with cats back then so I think about half of the pictures I took were of cats lounging around, lol. It also didn’t help that my aunt had 3 cats – Bijou, her daughter Bijou Daki (meaning Little Bijou) and ????, name escapes me now. I think they even had a book or calendar on the cats of Greece.
You mean Jeff Dunham (or as his puppet Peanut calls him, dun-HAAAM!) 😛
My former boss went to his local county fair in Minnesota several years ago and took a whole bunch of pictures; the general theme was Food on Sticks. A few years ago I even had a slice of cheesecake on a stick (drowned in melted chocolate…so good!).
That video was LOVELY! I could actually feel my breathing become slower and relaxed.
It’s not available for preorder in our region! And there’s no showing very near me, either! I really, *really* want to see the whole movie; it looks like it’s just a magical experience!
I didn’t see it but it was just shown here, in Cleveland. One of the local cat rescues had a whole fundraising event planned around it. I heard it went well.
I love how they introduce all the characters – it’s like a heist movie, only with cats.
Oceans Seven!
I so want to see this; I wish I could now!
