Bunny kisses are the BEST!
For those with no buns in their lives, bunnies have very soft tongues. Not all bunnies will give kisses. My very first bun, a mini-lop, was a frequent kisser! After you’d petted her a while, she’d insist on licking all over your hand. Then she’d duck her head down for more pets.?

Oh, boy, they are the best – rare but worth the wait. I had a bun that kissed constantly during his last days. He couldn’t walk anymore and I would hold him on my lap and he licked and licked. I think it had to do with his condition rather than his feeling anything particular for me, but it was lovely.

I can’t say that I’ve ever been kissed by a bun, but my dear parrot has been giving (and receiving) many kisses since I returned home from a week away. I think he was (and maybe still is) feeling very insecure, poor thing. Back to work for me tomorrow – rather dreading it.

All my best, Birdcage. Time passes, fortunately, even for unpleasant moments (don’t know if I’m very clear here 🙂 ).

I’ve never met a bun that liked me, granted most were at an animal shelter where i was supervisor and i know they were stressed, but many of my co-workers could handle and snuggle them 🙁

6rabbits is right– bunny kisses are the best! (And other animals too). My Dwarf Hotot was a kisser and my current bebeh bun, Pepper used to kiss. The kisses are soft and not drooly. I’m jealous of that girl with the pretty white bunneh getting precious kisses.

I want to be that girl! Bunny kisses sound so sweet, from what you all have described. My cats have accidently exfoliated me before, with their rough tonguesies.

My cat gets it in her head from time to time to kiss my eyelid – boy, is that painful.

Cats. They’re just so delightfully weird.

Ouch! My Emily’s tongue was like really coarse sandpaper, rougher than any other cat’s tongue I’ve ever felt; it was actively painful, especially when she’d pick the most tender skin on the inside of my forearm or something to lick for 15 minutes nonstop. Cats!
I’ve never had bunny kisses either, unfortunately. 🙁 I think I need to find a bun-bun for some kisses! Canine kisses are too drooly for me.

When I received a rabbit as a child as an Easter gift, my mother told me that when she was 6 or 7 years old her pet rabbit the bit her on the neck as she was holding it. The bite missed the jugular vein but not by much and the wound was bad enough and bled so much that the doctor was called even though her family was poor.
As a result I’ve never entirely trusted rabbits, I will pet them but I would not cuddle them close to my neck or face.

OMG, Gigi! How horribly traumatic–not only for your mother, but for you to hear about such an incident right when you received your new bunny!? It’s no wonder you don’t trust bunnies.?
Might I also say to the world at large that giving ANY pet as a gift is a baaaaaaad idea! Give a stuffed animal instead.

It’s the reason bunnies are not good pets for young children. They do, indeed, have very sharp teeth and when they’re frightened they will bite whatever is closest. Bunnies don’t much like being held because they are ground dwellers so being held by a young child probably feels very insecure and frightening. Those were other times as far as animal ownership – people didn’t research before hand what they were getting in to. Your Mom’s parents should never have permitted her to hold the rabbit, but what did they know, unfortunately. I hope if you encounter a rabbit that you can ask the owner how best to approach it and perhaps get past the fearful feeling you have of them.

None of my buns were/are kissers. Unless I happen to have had a treat in my hand and then I get the tongue bath. ?
