Last February, we saw 16 bison airlifted into Banff National Park in Canada, part of a plan to reestablish the first herd to roam that land in over a century. That group included ten pregnant females who just gave birth last month, adding frisky new calves to the fold.
Thanks for the follow-up, Joy H.
That was exquisite and touching. Love those bouncy baby bison!
The bouncing is cute but the leisurely flop in the grass at the end… 🙂
Banff was already the place I loved most to visit but add baby bison and it’s now heaven!
That is breathtakingly beautiful – and not a little tear-producing. Lovely.
On a related note, I went to the park at lunch and there were a bunch of teeny baby deer! One was right by the fence but he ran away when I got close (I almost didn’t even see him because I was looking at another one several yards away). One was curled up snoozing next to a tree by the pond, and another was exploring a small ravine at the side of the enclosure, with mom watching from nearby. I took a picture of him (I had to wait for him to move back up to the grass because he was the same color as the dirt on the side of the ravine and I couldn’t even see him in my camera!)! Don’t know how well you can see him but I’ll post it anyway. 🙂
Aww, what a sweet wee baby!
They were sooooo cute! Teeny little Bambis!
That dirt area slopes down about 6 feet or so to a small stream (not more than a few inches deep). There was another adult walking along in the water.
So sweet! Lucky you.
Banff! Such a beautiful park. Lake Helen is breath-taking. I am sure it is even more beautiful with the arrival of those lovely, furry baby bison. I hope that project is a huge success.
