It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Teddy Bear, the porcupine who gets vocal while he eats. This time he samples a bowl of acorns and finds they’re almost as well-protected as he is. But our chatty chewer loves a challenge, and he’s nut frustrated for long.
This cracks me up, Lois M.
Teddy is a ‘nut loving’ nut
Good work, Teddy! I love him! I’m glad to see he’s still around. Does anyone know how long porcupines live?
I wondered the exact same thing! Seems like Teddy’s been around for quite a while now. A quick google found this: “The average life expectancy of a wild porcupine is 5 to 6 years, while their captive counterparts have been known to live up to 10 years.”
Thanks! Let’s hope that means Teddy’s got some years left.
Great to see Teddy Bear again! For some reason I thought he had crossed the Bridge – perhaps I was thinking of Patrick the Wombat. How nice to be wrong.
His quills look so soft and fluffy!
Teddy’s as talkative as ever, looks like! ? But where’s his usual conversation partner? The video seems a bit empty without her.
Teddy seems a bit put off that the nuts have not been shelled for him LOL!
That reminds me, here’s a Youtube vid of another senior ani-pal being awesome. This is an otter at the Oregon Zoo who they taught to shoot hoops to relieve his arthritis:
I love his happy twirl at the end!
So sweet! Thank you, Smartypants!
You’re welcome! Glad you like it too.
Really touching and wonderful. It’s great that Eddie’s life turned out well for him after he was rescued.
That’s Otter Johnson .. Famous Hoops Player !
Just give us a huge amount of food, tell us what a good human we are, and we’ll shoot hoops all day!
I was surprised to get the Teddy update video this morning. Thought I’d send it along as I didn’t think we’d seen one for quite a while. Glad you all enjoy Teddy, too. My favorite is of him eating corn on the cob. I think that was my introduction to him several years ago. He really ‘talks’ when he’s doing that!! Lois M.
Oh yes! He seemed to feel deeply about the corn.
I could listen to Teddy “enh” noises on loop all day!
