Starting as an itinerant minstrel of the Pacific Northwest, “Wanderin’ Wally” Wawa of Walla Walla, Washington influenced generations of musicians on the dog-park circuit.

I just loved his mournful yapping, Tina M.
I love the hat!
Yes, he wears it with just the right degree of casual canine insouisance, doesn’t he?
🙂
I was trying to come up with an appropriate song that would be his big hit, but I’m not that familiar with country music.
Also…the eyebrows. I can’t really call them eyebrow dots, because they appear to be connected to the rest of the eyebrow. Eyebrow peaks?
Homer and Jethro did a parody “How Much is That Hound Dog in the Window”. Or how about “You Ain’t Nothin’ But Hound Dog” or “Ol’ Blue” or “My dog’s Bigger Than Your Dog” or “Old Shep”
Git Along, Little Doggies, of course.
(Yes, I know what dogies are. This is a different song. 🙂 )
“The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Chihuahuas”
oh wait .. that isn’t considered “County” is it ?
If you play it on a banjo or mandolin, it becomes “Americana”, a country sub genre. I once heard “Jumpin Jack Flash” with fiddle and mandolin.
I learn so many new things on this site.
There was an album many years ago called “Beatle Country” with such enduring hits as “We All Live in a Yaller Submarine”. Among Bluegrass cognoscenti it was very well known and beloved (well, that might be pushing it a bit)
Hehe, I was just watching Nickel Creek’s Tiny Desk Concert on you tube last night. As cute as Chris Thile is, he’s no Chihuahua in a cowboy hat. 😉
Oh, Allein, I think we have another catch phrase – “He’s no Chihuahua in a cowboy hat” has so many applications.
I like it!
They’re terrific.
I think I posted the Goat Rodeo video a couple weeks ago. Yo Yo Ma is on that one. They also did a Tiny Desk Concert.
Yo Yo Ma is so completely adorable.
Isn’t he?
If they gave a Country Music Award to “Best New Artist that Can’t Sing or Play Guitar” he would win, for sure!!
World of Bluegrass (the IBMA showcase) is on in Raleigh this week. Hopefully I’ll get to see him there!
