Koalas lay their eggs in the forks of trees high in the air to protect them from creditors. When the eggs hatch, the koalas are often too fast asleep to notice.

“Creditors”? Or should that be “predators”? That so distracted me that I didnt even realize that koalas don’t lay eggs!
I like creditors. Koalas are high maintenance. Lol.
Furry coconuts!
That would be *nest* eggs protected from creditors, yes?
Also, these koalas do look remarkably *like* eggs.
Eggsactly.
Everyone is so much smarter than I am. I didn’t think creditors instead of predators or about nest eggs. I was just… o.O
Plush eggs.
Once at the LA Zoo, I got to watch a keeper bring the koala into the exhibit. The keeper held a branch, to which the koala clung phlegmatically, blinking slowly. I had the impression keeper could have done almost anything short of dropping or throwing the branch, and koala wouldn’t have done anything but blink.
Koalas, like anteaters and sloths, are easiest to handle for veterinary purposes by sticking them to either a coworker or a stuffed animal from the gift shop. This pleases me.
Hmm, that reminds me, I need to pay my Discover Card bill…
They look like giant pussy willow buds growing out of that branch. XD
GREAT image, Sugitomo!
Haa! they do Sugitomo. Incidentally, I counted SIX Monarch butterflies fluttering south (was dive-bombed by the first two, hence my immediate awareness of them) when I was passing through a little parkette today. I marvel at Monarchs as they are so seemingly delicate but travel so far.
There’s a park near(ish) where I work that has a butterfly garden. I need to go back there before it gets cold…
Oh my goodness Allein, I urge you to go tomorrow as apparently the warm fall weather has the Monarchs sticking around much longer but–!!?? I think we both have the remnants of Nate’s rainfall tonight and tomorrow. If it clears tomorrow aft, go to the park, they may have sheltered there.
Yeah, it’s wet this morning (though not actually raining).
