Reader Laura H. writes: “Mike, this is a picture I took the other day of our cocker spaniel Sebastian. He’s is nearly 5 years old (in spite of the grey on his muzzle), and to our complete delight, he’s been approved to join his sister Melody the greyhound as a therapy dog! In fact, this is his ID photo for the therapy group, Paws for Friendship. We adopted him about a year ago, and he’s become a fun and hilarious member of the family. And he has a great nose, doesn’t he?”
Awwww, he’s adorable – he has that English colonel sort of look. And a very fine schnozzola. Just the ticket for booping. Congratulations, Sebastian!

I could use a therapy pup right now. Having one of those “why the f*** do I bother?” kind of days this morning.
Finally caught up on my huge back catalog of podcasts (BBC’s The Inquiry) last weekend so now I am listening to Eddie Izzard and trying to tune out everything around me (which, for once, is actually fairly quiet, but that won’t last).

Thanks. If my coworker who talks constantly but doesn’t listen stays out in the warehouse all day, that’d be nice. (Even if it means I can’t check something on her computer and hopefully fix the thing she didn’t listen to me about. But at least it’d be quieter.)
Allein, I’m right there with you. Night of bad dreams where only our condo unit leaked, but soaked everyone else’s.
Getting up seems pointless. But this handsome gentleman definitely helps. I need to gently nuzzle those ears, for some reason.
Eddie Izzard generally helps. I got to see him a few weeks ago in Denver.
Pro tip: never re-watch all of his shows just before you go to a history conference. His lines will pop into your head at the most inopportune moments. I learned this the hard way.

The first thing I really saw him in was a show called The Riches, with Minnie Driver (about ten years ago) and while I knew who he was and that he usually performs in drag, I was not that familiar with him. So after seeing him dressed in regular men’s clothes* then later seeing some of his stand-up videos was still kind of odd.
(*One of my favorite lines of his is when he talks about people saying he wears women’s clothes. “There not women’s clothes, they’re my clothes. I bought them.”)

I grew up with a black cocker spaniel, Sammy, and to this day (about a gazillion years later) I still tear up at the memories. Nobody sweeter ever walked the earth.

Aw, thanks, Mike! I’m thrilled to se Sebastian’s pic up this morning! He’s a real sweetheart, and loves people as much as people love him. I wish I could send gim to you for some puppy tberapy, Allein — hang in there, my friend, and imagine a pup with the softest coat you’ve ever felt, not to mention a deep love of food, ANY food, sleeping atop your feet. I bet you’ll feel better just from imagining it!

Cocker spaniels always look sad or worried to me and of course that only makes me want to do is give them even more cuddles and scritches.
The fuzzy-wuzzy ears and feets!! The earnest expression!! He is just wonderful Laura– I could use some of his therapy. 🙂
His nose is very nice, but I think his pointy head is even better!
I feel better just looking at sweet Sebastion so he will defintely be a success as a therapy dog! 🙂
Very noble nose and demeanor. I would definitely want to bury my face in his neck/ear area.
