I can imagine it: Gingerly dip one paw – jump back immediately – howl piteously to go back in, away from such cruel world. Look for consolation treats. ๐
I kinda wanna see what Stripes would do with snow. My mom used to take him out on a leash sometimes (it just encouraged him to try to escape more often so she stopped); he likes to go outside, but he’s never gone out in snow as far as I know. My parents used to have a screen house on the patio that you could get to from the garage, and Stripes would hang out in there for hours. (Stars wouldn’t go out for anything; the one time my mom tried the leash on her, she hovered against the wall next to the door and cried until we let her back in. I’m surprised my mom even got the collar on her in the first place. She wouldn’t even get as far as one paw print in the snow.)
That’s the quickest test drive of snow I’ve ever seen!! Perfect paw print though. ๐
Please let him in!!! Poor baby, look at that terrified face, how can Kitty’s slave/caregiver stand it?!?
It’s a good thing Kitty has such a great fluffy coat. And if Kitty forgets too quickly and decides he wants back out, maybe the slave/caregiver should take the day off from human work and just make sure Kitty can go out and come in when he wants.
(You can guess WHO is Boss at my house! :-D)
I used to let my cats go out on the balcony when we lived in a 4th floor apartment and most of them didn’t like the snow at all, lost of paw shaking and wanting back in immediately. The only exception was Isis, a short hair black cat. She loved the snow, she would roll around in it and then lay on her back and take a little nap.
P.S. Thank you for all the positive thoughts sent our way, T-Two is getting better, he came to the kitchen this morning with the other cats and ate a little bit of can food and a lot of treats, so I guess his mouth hurts a lot less and the antibiotics are working.
Happy for T-Two, hope he continues to feel better ?
All of my bunnehs have enjoyed going out on our snow covered deck.
YES! Great news. I’m sitting by the phone waiting to hear about Clementine – it’s already more than an hour since the vet said she would call, so I’m trying to distract myself.
Aww, my cat is also Clementine. Sending good thoughts.
Let us know Murray.
Yes, please let us know!
Good news on kitty.
It is good news re T and I am really hoping Clementine is ok!
Excellent news on T-two!
I finally heard from the vet and she said Clemmie came through extremely well. She will stay at the vet’s overnight for observation and I’ll be able to retrieve her tomorrow. WHEW! It’s interesting, when they remove an eye they have to remove part of the eyelid or else it will just pop open – they also have to remove the tear ducts. In the long run she’ll be a lot more comfortable and one small upside for me is that I don’t have to continue giving her eyedrops twice a day – it wasn’t really a hardship for me but if we go away and we have a caretaker, it’s a little trickier.
Thanks, Everybody, for your concern and good wishes. It’s very heartening when there’s a team on your side!
Wonderful news!
Glad she did well. Will she get an eyepatch so she can be a pirate, then? ๐
Yarr! Fine news, Clementine can come sail on my galleon whenever she wants.
I wonder if she’ll have any sort of a bandage – I love the idea of a little eyepatch! Apparently it’ll be pretty swollen at first and needs to slowly drain and I’ll have to apply cold compresses to her eye – so I doubt there’s anything on it. I just don’t know what would happen if she scratches her eye! I’d better ask that tomorrow. Boy, I feel like I’ve been through the wringer.
This sort of thing is very emotionally exhausting. Once Clem is home and everybody has eaten and settled you will slowly start to decompress. Hang in there! ๐
So glad for happy news, Murray. Hugs to Clementine.
I’m glad Clementine got thought the operation well, she’ll be so much more comfortable now and she can play pirate bunny!
Glad to hear your Clementineโs surgery went well. Hope she will heal quickly. ?
Thanks, guys!
Phew! So happy for you. ?
Very happy and relieved for you and Clemmie. I hope she heals speedily and comfortably.
I’ve retrieved Clementine from the vet and she’s very feisty, running about and eating, snuggling with Fergus. Her wound is rather off-putting. Of course, her eye area is shaved and bunnies eye sockets are REALLY prominent – add to that the swelling and the stitching area and it’s a little scary. But she’s come through so beautifully I’m thrilled and feel this is a good thing we’ve done – ouchy expensive! But a good thing.
Did you find out about scratching, patches etc?
Yes – the stitches are inside so there is no danger of her tearing any out. And the vet said bunnies tend to be very good about not doing damage to their wounds/stitches. She has groomed her face and doesn’t seem to have any negative reaction to touching her eye socket. I’m thrilled that she seems to be eating normally already – I pictured her having a kind of low key period where I might have to syringe feed her, but that hasn’t been the case. She happily ate some carrot and has been munching on hay. Relieved doesn’t cover it! And thanks again for your concern – all of you.
Such good news, Gigi! Happy for you and T-Two!
Reminds me of a line in the musical “Cats” in the Rum-Tum-Tugger song: “He’s always on the wrong side of every door.”
๐ I forgot about that lyric, it is funny and charming.
Love that VERY SMALL patch of disturbed snow.
Tried it, didn’t like it, now ready to come in and sit on top of the heating vent, thank you.
My current cat, Dorothy, who belongs to my housemate but eats, drinks, and has box in my room because of the big dog…sigh…will make a mad dash out the front door in extreme heat or cold. She makes it to the edge of the porch and just stands still with wide eyes. She doesnโt move to come in. But she knows she made a big mistake. You have to snap her out of her stance by banging on the storm door or spraying her with water. If sheโs still out we close the door for five minutes. Then she looks like the cat in the picture who was probably out for all of five minutes too. Such is life with a cat.
So, Millie gets along with the cat, one presumes? That’s nice!
Reminds me of Garrison Keillor’s “In and Out Song”.
That made my night! Thank u, EdmundH!
YES, that was GREAT!
That is so … cat!
So clever and funny. Much cat.
Thanks, I had forgotten that song, heard it years ago when Keillor was on TV. What is he doing these days? Thirty-some years ago I crashed into him in Honolulu, he was coming out of a restaurant while I was going in. Loved his Lake Woe Begone stories. ๐
Since I don’t want to harsh anyone’s mellow here, let me just suggest you do a websearch on his name. He’s been in the news for the last few months, and it’s not a happy story any way you look at it.
Don’t harsh my squee!
This song is the ultimate cat song!
