And finally: How Was Your Day?
Did it start with an early morning cuddle followed by delicious meelks? Did you get to run and play and get fresh air and then more cuddles and meelks? Then you aren’t as lucky as this baby wombat, found by Murray C.

Belle and her pillow – so cute/sad! The Hilarious Guide to Dog Breeds really is hilarious – dog parents – is it true? And I am definitely available for wombat cuddling.
About the dog breeds, somewhat accurate but of course somewhat exaggerated. For an even funnier take on different breeds, there’s a book called “The Good, The Bad, and The Furry”. It talks about various characteristics of the dog, positive and negative, including a section on how the particular dog would react to an intruder. It includes such gems as: this breed would shiver, shake and be taken along with the silver OR If you hear someone in the middle of the night yelling help, oh god no, know your dog is entertaining a guest and you should get out there so there’s something for the police to arrest. Talk about exaggerrating!
Almost five minutes of wombat!!! gah!!! sigh. Brain is thoroughly mush now…
Yep… still sitting here slightly stunned wondering why everyone in Australia seems to have a wombat and what the North American comparison is? Possums? nope. (even though I’d LOVE one) Raccoons? Too mean. Skunks? – ah, no. Anyone have a ground hog?
sigh… wombatses make my Wednesday so good. ๐
Lots of groundhog/woodchucks on our property and i have to say the babies are very cute!
Video or pics please?!
I heard once that American groundhogs are sent to Japan as pets (one hopes!) and I saw something recently about a guy and his pet groundhog that was sleeping right up against his face like a cat would (except MY cat, the ole Tactiphobe) And skunks make great pets as long as they’re de-scented.
My dental hygienist had a pet woodchuck when she was a child, she told me how it would run to her and snuggle with her, no one else though, just her, she kept him in her house, in a separate room. She left for college and her parents let the woodchuck go free, and when she returned, who came running, yip her pet woodchuck, surprisingly though, she never named him.
I had always understood that groundhogs and woodchucks were one and the same???
Yes, Woodchucks and Groundhogs are the same animal. I’ll need to try and get some pics or video of them this spring ๐
Hmm, I’ve heard the same about skunks. I wouldn’t say no if one (an unscented one) adopted me.
Edit: shoot, the above was supposed to respond to Murray C’s comment.
To CAZ – I love this story! I think I’ve got to look for some woodchuck videos now…
Here we go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRu5pQU38K4

Oh dear, the sitting on the rear end chomping on the broccoli with the legs splayed out could – maybe – give wombatses a run for their money.
oh, who am I kidding…. wombats still win.
I think this is the only baby i’ve managed to photograph, peeking out from under our barn
Oh, my stars and garters, that is one adorable creature – has a certain wombat air, dontcha think?
Now there’s a reality show I could get into!
Baby Pangolins have the cutest way of riding.
DUBRAVKAMCVMD – I can say that “tremble” is accurate for the Chihuahua, at least. (My favorite was “distinguished vocalist” for the Husky. Considering some of the videos that have been featured here and at CO, I’d say that one is spot on.)
Kittens are so much cuter than Kardashians. You can trust them never to rip off their fur coats, coat themselves in grease and balance a champagne glass on their posteriors.
Okay, you know I had to go google for a kitty parody of that photo. You’ll be happy to know I was unsuccessful.
It’s good to know that there’s some decency left in the world!
I have never had the dubious pleasure of even clapping eyes on a Kardashian (maybe briefly in a TV ad?) and after that comment, Alice, I am even happier maintaining that record.
I have a friend who has a Yorkshire Terrier and the description is spot on. I often joke that her dog is very cat like in that it can’t make up it’s mind what it wants. LOL!!
You hold onto that pillow for as long as you want to, Belle! If it makes you happy, that’s all that matters! I’ve had my Winnie the Pooh bear since I was about 2 1/2. He’s over 44 years old now and I still sleep with him.
I have a teddy bear whose tag says he was made the same year I was born (1975). The squeaker in his butt even still works! (I don’t sleep with him but he sits on a shelf in my bedroom and watches over me. He even went to college with me. ๐ )
I have a little mohair bear that I got when I had injured my finger rather badly (very long story) – I was less than two – there are pictures of me, finger bandaged, with my brand new “YeeYee”. He’s now 68-ish!
omg…he’s 30 bucks on ebay! (The head on mine is a little less…tilted..)
I had no idea his name was Freddy…

I just realized that Saturday was World Pangolin Day! We should have had the pangolin story then!
Tomorrow is International Cat Day. Which seems redundant. Isn’t every day cat day?
Well, duh! ๐
Re: the Cat Day…
Yay! to Murray for totally adorable wombat footage!?? SO want to be a wombat rehaber when I retire!
Why do people have to eat rare species?! ( “Oooh, it’s endangered, must be good eatin’.” ) Pangolins are so adorbs!?
Well they’re used in Chinese medicine – so is rhino horn and heaven knows what else that could easily be replaced with finger nails – same substance.(keratin??) I’d be happy to send my nail clippings to Chinese medicine practitioners – my cat’s and rabbits’ as well – if it would save endangered species.
