“Hmph…as long as these bars keep you jokers out…”
This precious, though not happy , seemingly bored Rex bun, in a small wire cage, appears to be at a fair or some type of rabbit show. I would gladly pay the bail and take this cutie home, and spoil this bunneh.
But…he’s just doing what bunnies do!

“You can’t keep me in here coppers!!!”
Unhappy bunny in a dirty, rusty cage. The caption is cute, but that’s all 🙁
So true but the bunneh and Mike’s humor is cute. I just want to bunneh nab that sad cutie right out of there, shhhhh don’t tell.
I am aggravated and grumpy right now. Can I be his cell mate?
Hi all:
I agree with some of the comments here and think that my judgement in using the picture was a bit off. I was focused too much on the facial expression and not the whole photo. Thanks to all for sharing opinions, I find them helpful.
Well, he does look like he’s at a fair, as Luvbunny pointed out (I clicked the link and looked at some of the other photos in the stream; there were some of chickens also in cages, apparently in the same building, or at least one with the same type of roof, and other pictures clearly at some kind of county fair or something – goats, a spinning wheel, some rides) so I’m going to assume this is a temporary situation and Mr. Humphlephumph has much nicer digs at home.
Mike, I don’t think your judgement is off. Most of us are mainly focusing on the cute bun. Some of us noted the background and I think most of us realize and hope it’s at a fair ( like Allein also saw) and hope the bun goes home to more pleasant surroundings. I never have been crazy about the small cages at county fairs or animal shows but I realize it’s for a short time.
My hat is off to all—especially Luv Bunny—who noted the sadness of Harold Humphlephumph’s quarters, and to Mike for being responsive. Let us hope that Harold left the fair with a family who provided him with a much more rabbit-friendly home.
Ok, we need to spruce up that bun-buns quarters – STAT! Who’s got some fleece fabric for the bottom of the cage? Anyone with some knitted accouterments for play things? Experienced folks here willing to give this bunny a pedi-mani? Maybe some rust-o-leum spray paint in a pretty color to spruce up that cage? Maybe Maru could contribute one of his cardboard boxes?
What else does this bunny need?
I’ll contribute the dandelion greens.
Come on folks, with all of us to pitch in, we’ll have that bunny cheered up and out of jail in no time!
Birdlady26, I’d help you but I can skip all the extra work to spruce up the quarters by just simply taking this bun-bun to my already bun proof home – easy makeover.
I just know if I provided all that for my buns the nice fleece would be in rags in no time. I’ve stopped using much in the way of fabric for our buns. I do use boot trays under their food bowls and litters. They seem to like them. Their flooring, somewhat imperfect, is a roll of vinyl flooring cut to fit their little room. They have one fabric piece which they are in the process of dismantling but it’s been slow going, for which I am grateful. A couple of pieces that they’ve torn to shreds are now hanging in our basement as “Bunny Art”.
Cheer up, bunbun–I just know your people love you and won’t keep you jailed for long.
Missed chiming in to the open thread yesterday, but read everybody else’s posts. I was at Yarn Fest, a giant room full of fiber and yarn. Miraculously, I managed to stay within $20 of my budget!
DEBG, I picture you in something equivalent to the Ball Room at Ikea, rolling around in great balls of yarn, smiling beatifically.
