In addition to the extra-long bath, Hubert had to sit in the corner while his mommy gave him the “Mr. Skunk Is Not Our Playmate” lecture.

Stand him directly in front of the door without the towel and he’d disappear…
Well, except for the ‘smell’ part. 😉
Do dogs perceive skunk smell as 40 times more loathsome than we do… or 80 times more delightful? Having had a dog who loved rolling in OTHER dogs’ fresh poop, I wonder.
That forlorn look on doggie’s face… IT NEEDS HUGS!
Brings back the memory of Mickey our chow chow mix family dog who got skunked while we were camping one summer. My father had to take him home in the back seat of the car because he smelled to bad to keep him in the camper.
The smell eventually came out of the dog’s fur after numerous washing with tomato juice and specialty shampoo but it never left the car even after a professional cleaning. Every time it rained the car would smell of skunk.
Definition of doleful. Maybe with a pinch of remorse….
Oh, how true. Sweet contrition.
I HOPE Hubert learned a lesson…My terrier Midnight got skunked FIVE times. At least he did learn to turn and take it on his side instead of in the face.
