Breaking News Flash!!! Toffee the puppy has been rescued after over 31 hours in the hole. Yippee!!!!!! So happy and thank you to all the volunteers/first responders who helped out.

My weekend is going to be less exciting. Chores most of the day and tomorrow. Still trying to catch up after vacation last week. Also, hubby and a friend are bringing the remaining dog supplies up to the other person who’s taken in the 2 dogs we were dog sitting. Long story short, hubby might have to travel for work and I have a torn tendon in my arm so if he went I wouldn’t be able to take care of the dogs so another friend stepped up to be the dog sitter.

Then tonight, it’s mystery double date time with good friends of ours. All I know is hubby picked out an outfit, said to wear this Sat night and you’re having chicken for dinner. Me thinks we’re doing a harbor dinner cruise but I’ll know for sure in about 12 hours. Should be interesting and hopefully fun!

    Have a good weekend all!

How fun to anticipate a nice surprise, AJ!! Hope it’s more fun than a barrel of lab puppies!

    • Murray C. June 30, 2018 / 4:50 pm

Oooh, a mystery date! Wow, that’s pretty creative. You’ve got to let us know how it goes!

It is too hot here to move so I am throwing over my plans to weed the garden and I am escaping to my sister’s country property where there is a pool, a shady cabana and a margarita machine. And 3 cute dogs. And 4 cute chickens. That’s where I will be if anyone needs me.

    • beemoused June 30, 2018 / 9:43 am

Sounds lovely!! Much too warm and yucky down here in Central FL too. Can I come if I add a cute kitten and some fresh cookies?

    • AJ June 30, 2018 / 10:20 am

Do the cabana and margarita machine come with a cabana boy? In any case, sounds just fab and fun.

    • Nancy June 30, 2018 / 10:37 am

What time are you picking me up? I’ll be ready….

    • Gigi The cat lady June 30, 2018 / 11:10 am

A pool and a margarita machine sounds just heavenly!

This kitty looks like how I feel. Except he’s much cuter.

Not much going on here. I don’t plan to go out in the heat.

      So many questions;

Where do they keep the giant cat box?
Where do they store all their mugs, glasses and figurines?
Who sells the humongous cat toys?
Is it safe to play red dot with an industrial grade laser?

      • Nancy June 30, 2018 / 12:00 pm

Are those Frosted Flakes? And is his name Tony???

        • Faye June 30, 2018 / 2:35 pm

          Yes. That’s a good question.

Hot. Hot. Hot. So Millie and I are inside running my new quiet window ac.

My grocery order was all icecream. I had icecream for dinner last night. It’s good to be an adult and eat icecream for dinner.

Free of any obligations until 5:00 pm Monday. Some light cooking then art work with tv. No art classes until July 10. Counting the days.

Glad to say I’m in an increasingly happy state of mind. I missed out on so much but I’ll take what I have now.

Have good a good weekend. My thoughts are with those dealing with losing pets or humans.

  6. Duckie ? June 30, 2018 / 11:54 am

Darling little fuzzball is not helping my attempts to wake up. Think I’ll kidnap her and catnap.
    Or duck nap. Or whatever.
Ok, bad stuff first. The next three weeks are going to be h*ll. BIL, unexpected eye surgery for me, hubby’s work schedule, loud vulgar strata general meeting for all owners.
After that, things look potentially better. BIL should be at peace, finances will be settled, lump will be removed from eye and healing begun, hubby’s work scheduled reduced to five days a week, and we will have our weekends free. We might even be able to talk about looking at property!
So. I wish all us Canadian Cuties a Happy Canada Day for tomorrow, you American Cuties a Happy Fourth of July for Wednesday, and the rest of you global Cuties a wonderful week to come.

One thing at a time Duckie.

      • Duckie ? June 30, 2018 / 4:29 pm

        Yes, good advice.
I just wish life itself would follow that advice.

We are having a heat wave that is going to last all week so hubby and I went out to run errands early this morning before the heat became unbearable, came home and put the fixing for supper is in the slow cooker and now I’m sitting in the crosswind of 2 fans.

On the cat front in doing a little better, LUV BUNNY asked yesterday if my other cats seem to know something happened to their mate, the answer is for the most part no.

Penny was a people cat and didn’t hang around with the other cats in the house, she pretty much ignore them and they did the same. That is except for Mia (affectionally known as The Horrible Little Beast) I’ve notices that Mia as been claiming the places that were Penny’s places. Those two were always competing for my attention, if I petted one the other one had to interfere, they never fought but some paw air swipes were exchanged.

Well anyway I wanted to thank you all for your support and your kind words, hope every one has a good weekend!

Hugs to all dealing with loss, whether it’s past or present. It’s been a tough few weeks in our virtual community; I’m holding you all in my heart.

We had lots of heat earlier this week in northern Colorado, but today it shouldn’t go above the mid 70s. I’ve taken the opportunity to do more home repairs, since sweat does nothing to help the joint compound dry. Soon the wall patches will be done!

Yesterday I finally applied for my mortgage. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please. I’m trying not to chew off all my fingernails as I wait.

I’m off to look at a house this afternoon. Sadly, it will probably not include Scottish wildcats, who are totally new to me. How could I have missed such cuties before?!?!?!

Take care, everyone, especially if you’re dealing with high temps.

Crime doesn’t pay, especially if you’re not very bright.

      • dubravkamcvmd June 30, 2018 / 6:58 pm

I prosecuted street crime back in the day and one of the difficult things was to convince the jury that the defendant would rob someone he knew because it seemed so stupid to rob someone who could easily identify you. Defendants usually committed street crimes in their own neighborhoods.

Thank you, FKAWaldenpond. I very desperately needed that laugh. I don’t know what was funnier, the guy threatening to throw sunflower seeds, the girl falling out of the ceiling, or the cashier trying to fend everyone off with one hand.

    • Gigi The cat lady June 30, 2018 / 5:25 pm

I love the last line in the description it’s so typically Canadian.

“And, in case you get worried at any point about the risky behavior on display, rest assured that the police officer is holding a stun gun, not a handgun, and that no one involved was seriously hurt.” LOL!!!

      • fkaWaldenPond June 30, 2018 / 6:44 pm

And what a ‘gentleman’ the boyfriend was– his first evasive maneuver was to THROW HIS GIRLFRIEND INTO THE COP. 😀 !!!!? and Duckie I cracked up at the sunflower packet distraction too.
Oh and the store owner didn’t need the cops, he is the ‘The Mountain’ standing in the doorway casually blocking every attempt to leave. 😀

    Hi, All,

I guess I’m feeling somewhat chuffed – we went to a rally for Family Unity, etc. and sat in the HOT SUN for 1 1/2 hours – makes you wonder how people who really have to work in the hot sun must feel. But I’m glad we did it – it was a smallish group compared to the big DC and large metropolitan rallies, but worthwhile, for certain.

Quiet week end otherwise – plant care is top priority in this heat, making sure nobody takes a nosedive for lack of water.

DEBG, good luck with the mortgage – I surely hope all goes well. Duckie, I hope your eye surgery goes well! And Birdcage! Well, aren’t you the lucky one, get to go to a pool. I’m jealous.

Love that funny little kitten – and the HUGE cat behaving like one.

Isn’t modern technology amazing? Here I am speeding across Europe in a bus, coming home from our language week in Galway. The weather was in the 80s with nary a drop of rain all week! No one will ever believe that the students got tans in Ireland!!

I do so love crazy whiskers and eyebrows on kitties.
