Welcome to the weekend, Cutetropolitans! Pour yourself a lovely beverage, make some breakfast, and step up to the keyboard — but before you do, you will need to make an offering to appease the Keyboard Troll.
This cutie can have all the waffles, Sharon H.
I don’t have any waffles. Would this sweet little kitten like some of my bagel? *boops its nose*
Morning, everyone. Starting a long weekend here in Canada. I’m going to be making a few batches of homemade artisan soap for an upcoming craft fair – and I love soapmaking, so that makes it a fun weekend. I saw the new Disney Pooh movie last night called Christopher Robin and, peeps, you’ve GOT to see it: soooooooooo cute. The effects that animate Pooh and his friends are amazing and the animals take the cute to a whole new level, especially Eeyore. Highly recommend. Sitting here with Merlin, having my morning coffee, before I get started with the weekend activities, watching my nest of baby robins out the window. Everyone should have birds to sit with, I feel: it really forces mindfulness and slow, intentional movement (to avoid startling them).
O venerable Keyboard Troll, please accept this meager offering of “delicious raisins perfectly balanced with crisp, toasted bran flakes”
Today the adventure begins! Heading to my happy place in northern Minnesota for ten days of beachcombing, creativity, grilled fish and star-gazing without light pollution. Lake Superior, here I come!!!
Sounds wonderful! Enjoy!
Squee!!! I have no clue what I’m having for breakfast but this little nugget can have it all. It’s so fluffy!! And those eyes, And those bat ears! I’m not scared of you troll and proves it by scooping him up for snorgels.
Lots of great activities planned by my fellow cutetropolians. Soap making, how lovely. Ten days in MN, how fun. Just don’t let the bugs carry you off.
Me and hubster took a weekend jaunt to Seattle to try and escape the heat. I think we succeeded, it’s 57 degrees this morning, ahhhhh so nice. Especially after the 70s and 80s back in CA. Boeing factory and underground Seattle tours today and air show tomorrow. All I know is it can only get better after yesterday. Flight here was delayed 3-1/2(!) hours so didn’t get to bed til about 1 am. Got a lovely view out the hotel window that keeps both of us happy – he gets to look at planes from the Boeing factory next door and I get my lake view. Have a great weekend everyone! Sorry for the sideways view. My phone posts things very weirdly. It looked right on my screen then literally everything went sideways.
AJ, sounds delightful! Please give us progress reports from the tours and air show. Seattle is on my bucket list.
Had a great time. Seattle is really fun and tons to do. Didn’t even scratch the surface this weekend. I think we may need to come back for a full week of exploring the place. Loved the tours – Boeing was really interesting, got to see the planes in the assembly area plus they have a little exhibition/museum. We took the “saucy” Underground tour and it was all about – whispers softly – prostitution. Yes, yes, lots of pearl clutching going on right now, lol. But we learned lots of interesting and juicy tidbits such as UPS was originally founded to help “ahem” certain ladies (of the night) get deliveries of things they needed as they were usually kinda busy. I think it might have helped to take the original tour first to get some background since that wasn’t covered in depth in my tour.
We didn’t do the actual airshow, I figured it would be way too crowded so we went to the Museum of Flight where they had the Jet Blast Bash. The museum is right next to Boeing Field and that’s the field the Blue Angels take off from for the airshow. Pretty exciting to see them take off in formation not too far from where we were seated. And of course got to see all the exhibits in the museum. If you’re into planes, gotta to go there, it’s an amazing place – http://www.museumofflight.org/
Only small downside was historic downtown Seattle is a little sleazy, reminded me a little of downtown NYC before Seaport Village was developed. Plus right now they’re doing construction and some of the waterfront is blocked off so no pretty bay views from most of the area. Other than that, had a relaxing time. Flight back wasn’t bad but I’m done flying Southwest, they have gone downhill in all areas. Now back to icky muggy weather and work. Big sigh. Good night everyone.
Good weekend all! Going to be a quiet one for me, SI joint still acting up, but I’m going for a nice swim this morning which will make it feel better. I’ve started a box of stuff to go to goodwill, so that’s probably what will take up the rest of my weekend. I need to find room to shift my old fish tank which is currently in an unused bathroom so that I can cleanup and possiblely repaint in there. I hope this break in the heat continues!
I have to find this kitten so I can put a cape and a little top hat on him he is one serious hypno kitty looking cat I can feel his mind trying to seize control of my soul what a look on his face!
I’ve never seen a less troll-looking troll in my life. *scritch-scritch*
The only thing cuter than a sleepy kitten is a bright-eyed kitten! Love this little one!
I’m off to the credit union in a few minutes to see about loans for my home repairs. If it feels like we’ve been here before, and recently, we have! If you’ve ever wondered why you bought a house, I feel your pain! It doesn’t help that I want to fix and improve everything, right now, because I’m sick of living with broken things and/or ugly rooms. It’s too easy to walk around the house with mental blinders on, just to avoid looking at the mess.
I’ll focus soon–probably today–and start making lists so that I don’t feel so scattered and overwhelmed. Then I can try out a coworker’s suggestion of “pomodoros”: plan tasks for 30-minute units that include 25 minutes of work and a 5-minute break. Once you see every big task in pomodoro units, it becomes easier to accomplish all the stuffs (says my coworker). Plus who doesn’t love tomatoes?!!
Sounds like many of us have wonderful plans for the weekend. Enjoy, all, and hugs to those grieving or worrying.
DebG, that system works for me when I set my mind to it. But there are so many productivity tricks out there, if “pomodoros” doesn’t work, you’ll find something that does. (I’ve also done the “Forest” app which is kind of fun). Good luck on all fronts!!
There’s nothing much going on at the Shortcakery this weekend, but last Sunday I went to Stratford-upon-Avon for the afternoon. I enjoyed a cream tea, did some shopping and walked round for a few hours before pausing for a sit-down on a bench behind the church where Shakespeare is buried. At this point the heavens opened and I got absolutely SOAKED before I reached shelter! Still, I can’t complain – we desperately needed rain.
Doing some much needed housework today – cleaning the bedroom is high priority. Too wet to work in the garden. Very effulgent out there! Going to a barbecue tonight at my hubby’s boathouse on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Should be fun and the weather is supposed to clear.
Sounds like there are some wonderful goings on among the Cutetropolis Family – enjoy, everyone. And those who are burdened, I wish you well and heart’s ease.
Mike, I still don’t get confirmation emails so I don’t get emails of people’s follow-up posts even tho’ I click the box. Sorry to bug you, just an fyi.
Only happy thoughts today.
Three day weekend for hubby.
Last of heat seems to be gone, in spite of the ridiculous proposed 35 degree midweek spike.
Leaves starting to change colour.
Best friend home Tuesday.
Made a list of all the projects I felt needed doing. Read the list carefully several times, and then crumpled it up and tossed it in the recycling bin. Instant dose of relaxation.
Deck garden doing wonderfully. This year’s harvest will be one cucumber, two tomatoes, and a handful of mint. I’d sit outside to enjoy it all, but the cucumber plant took over the wicker seat I have out there, and doesn’t intend to relinquish it any time soon. Tried to move it once, and it hissed at me.
Lots of pleasant tasks for the day, so I must off. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Happy Caturday! I have waffles in my freezer and kitty can have them all!
Going to my parents’ for dinner. Will see how Stars is doing. Probably hiding under the bed or behind the couch.
Birdcage – Ewan McGregor was on Stephen Colbert this week and he talked about the stuffed Pooh bear they had on set. I owe my mom a movie and I was going to suggest that.
Saturday silliness:
Ewan was on Seth Meyers too..(just watched this one)
My brother was in the hospital for 4 days. He was cranky and mean, but is a fall risk, so I spent several hours a day sitting with him to make sure he didn’t try to get out of bed. Thursday was particularly bad, because he was feeling better and was being mean to everyone. I had to leave, apologized to the nurse and said I had to go. Got home to find this kitten on my back porch, because where else is a stray kitten gonna go for a meal? She would not let me get close enough to pick her up and take her to the shelter. I fed her of course, and now she is hanging out on my back porch. Eventually she will trust me enough to get close, and she will be headed to the shelter and a new life. I posted her on local facebook groups, in the hopes she already has a family who was missing her, and someone replied they had set some food out for her, because suddenly her mom is no longer around. My cats tend to sit in the bathroom window, and she lays on the porch meowing at them, making biscuits in the air, and wishing they were her mommy.
I saw your post yesterday and I keep thinking about the kitten crying up to your cats for milk and cuddles from her Mom. And your saintly support for your brother.
Will keyboard troll take bacon? I have bacon.
Hi Everyone! It sounds like a good weekend for us all. Hope you all have wonderful and restful days.
I’ve taken AJ’s place in So Cal and it is hot. Smart move to head to Seattle. But it is all perspective. I’m so happy to be here because I only have a little glow on my nose and am not the amazing walking water fountain I usually am in Philadelphia.
We are going to Artesia to the Indian fabric stores for a look-see. I’m hoping they have some nice and unusual cotton fabrics. Then to my aunt and uncle with my sister and kids for pool time with niece and nephew, 3 months and 3 years. They are so cute. My niece is very calm but has a lot to say already. Meanwhile, her brother bounces around like the ball in a pinball machine. We had a breakthrough with him in the pool. He finally put his face under the water all by himself. My sister and I, both former swimming teachers, are so proud.
To everyone who gave me pizza sauce advice two weeks ago, thank you! I added balsamic and a bay leaf. Evened everything out beautifully.
15/10 would nuzzle gently.
Only 15?!
Very quiet Saturday for me and Millie. Hot, muggy with rain on and off.
I want to know what kitty is seeing that caused her eyes to widen so much!
Must have had too much coffee and now has a nice buzz go, lol.
This is probably the last picture taken of Stripes. He was curled up in my dad’s lap and he just held his phone out to the side and got this. (Can’t you just tell he hates cats?)
Um…in the actual file it’s flipped 90 degrees to the right. I don’t know why it rotated when I posted it. Weird. Still cute.
Awwww.
It’s wonderful to have that.
Yeah, he showed it to me last night and I made him send it to me.
So glad he got that picture.
Stars was under the bed last night when I got to my parents’ house. She came out later, went back and forth between my dad and my brother and me getting pets. Later she was in the bedroom again but not under the bed, and when I went in she meowed at me and I picked her up and tried to get her to sit with me in the armchair in the living room but she wouldn’t stay. My mom said she’s been more vocal lately; maybe she’s saying “where’d Stripes go?”? (She normally barely makes a sound. She has a tiny little meow, too. It’s so cute.) She also went in the basement for a bit, which is something he would do but she usually doesn’t. She laid for a bit in the front part of the living room where he liked to be, too (she hangs there sometimes, anyway).
My dad said she also slipped jumping up onto the bed a couple weeks ago and landed on her butt, and seemed like she might have hurt her hip a little bit. Now she’s afraid to jump up on things. Poor baby.
I’m watching To Tell the Truth and they had someone who “has a thousand cats.” It turned out to be the woman who runs Cat House on the Kings!
In each game they have the two “liars” from one group stay for a round called Before You Go and one of the two remaining was “a dog groomer named Cat.” She did the Sesame Street dog (among many others).
