Ruth O., a reader with the coolest volunteer gig ever, sent in these pictures: “I took these today at the rescue home where I volunteer as a cat cuddler. Quite soon, the ‘cake’ started purring, and I may have smooched it several times.”

Best Birthday cake ever! Happy Birthday Allein!
I agree, Tara, that’s my kind of birthday cake!
Happy birthday, Allein!
I’m getting one of these after work, right?
[checks watch], yup, every hour is cat nap hour, so you’ll be just in time for cat nap cake. Happy birthday!!!
Ack!! Clunk – death by cuteness.
They are so beautiful. If I lived closer, the cat count in my family would quickly jump to seven 🙂
Looks more like a catserole to me.
So cat version of Ratatouille then?
Catatouille?
Certainly more that than a Meow Mix.
Appropriate color for the season. Hmmm, what flavor? Pumpkin Spice.
Pumpkin spice cattuccino?
Or perhaps caramel meow-chiato?
Lemon meowringue?
Squee! These are my pictures! It really is the best volunteer gig. They didn’t move for cuddles, but they got ’em anyway!
Beats my volunteer activity, dealing with deprived foster care cases.
These little ones look so cuddly. And warm. And purry. And furry.
Gorgeous gingers! They look so cranky, but I’m sure that’s because they just woke up.
Happy birthday, Allein. Enjoy this catcake.
Thanks!
1) Happy Birthday, Allein!
2) That is exactly what I want today – a purring kitty pile (I only have 2 but they won’t pile with each other into a cake formation). Been an awful day (my mom is very near death) so the adorable animal butts and these marmies made me smile in the midst of tears! Thank you, cutetropolis!
I’m so sorry! My mother died two years ago so the experience is very present to me.
1) Thank you!
2) Big hugs to you and your family.
Lots of thoughts of love and strength to you!
Aw, I’m so sorry, JLA – it’s been 12 years for me but it’s still very much present in my heart- like anything that is so intense, each detail seems embedded in us. I hope you and your Mom find peace.
I’m so sorry for your grief. I’m very glad that we (and the kitties) could be here for you.
I’m so sorry for you sorrows.
Oh I am so sorry! The 25th anniversary of my Mom’s death will be the 15th of this month and I miss her always. May your memories of your Mom console you.
Hugs and peace to you and your family. Was in the same situation last year around this time. What is it about October? My mom, my mother-in-law and several other people I know all passed this month.
I’m so sorry, please know that yo’re not alone.
I have a family interment this weekend. Very sudden death, we’re still in shock.
thank you for your kind words, everyone! It’s tough but at least she’s been pretty peaceful through this process. End stage alzheimers is the pits.
And I’ve heard that from many others- there is something about losing your mom, a very vivid and particular pain. 🙁
((hugs back))
Thank you!!! I’m doing my daily Cutetropolis check to make sure I smile 🙂
Oh Jla, I am so sorry; hugs and peace to your Mom, you and your family.
So sorry for your pain. I’m glad you’re remembering to take care of yourself, even if it’s only for a moment.
So sorry.
Sending you warm, feathery hugs.
