Swimming Trunkster

Watch this baby elephant splash it up!

Little baby elephant isn’t too sure about this whole water stuff — at first. In this video from Hanover Zoo in 2011, a baby elephant pokes at the water nervously with its trunk, and then hits the water — literally! (via Andrew Y.)

Sometimes I wish I had a trunk. It looks like so much fun.

When you’re still developing your life skills, it’s better to use that careful sideways shuffle to get down each step. Well, some of us with creaky knees or hops aren’t as nimble as a Jerry Orbach type, so no ‘shuffling off to Buffalo’ for us.

Isn’t it? I love every itty bitty part of its cute little body and its great care in taking the steps and swishing its trunk about – clockwise was it? I wonder if it’s like water down a drain and which side of the equator you’re on.?

Yes, I love that that’s the word!

How about when he reaches the top of the steps and then thinks “Hmm, perhaps some more swimming…” Little trunk-twirling cutie.
