Happy first Caturday of 2019, Cutetropolitans! Once again we are graced with the presence of Penny and Teller, from reader muppet2171, who demonstrate that while cats are fanatics about grooming themselves, they can be careless when grooming each other, such as leaving behind a cowlick (or catlick?) as shown at right.

They are gorgeous! I would love to get in there between those two!
Looks like they were going for a radical restyle.
Totally adorable twosome.
Mornin’ all. I have to get my oil changed and then brave the returns counter at Kohls. But I leave you with this.
Sometimes YouTube gifts me with the best stuff.
That’s amazing. I’m pretty sure possession of a dog that cute is damaging to a person’s ability to interact with other humans. I mean, why bother?
I know some people get annoyed by what they call ‘baby talk’ in these sorts of videos but I just love it and can’t get enough of the ‘henlo’ and the ‘heckin’.
I love this! Thanks!
I’m pretty firmly a crazy cat person but omg this dog is so cute! Heckin cute even!
Henceforth I will always refer to Pringles as ‘Promgles’.
Just remember, sharing is caring.
I returned my stuff at Kohls and tried on some jeans. One pair fit perfectly in the waist, but I didn’t realize I had picked up the “long” ones and, well, I’m not particularly long. They didn’t have them in medium length so I decided to go a few towns up the road to a different store. They had the medium length but they didn’t fit in the waist. What is that all about, anyway? I also tried on some tops but I didn’t like any of them and didn’t see anything else I wanted, but had $10 in Kohls rewards ($5 of it was part of my refund) so I bought some socks just to use them because I doubt I’ll be back there before they expire.
(What I really need to do is get serious about my eating habits so I can wear more of the clothes I already have.)
With the return of longer days, are you able to go out and walk Allein? Yes, I know, I am always going on about ‘walking as exercise’ but it really helps me with stress and ahem, eating habits. I find Sunday walks are the most important– I am anxious and slightly blue about the coming work week when I start my walk but the feelings slowly dissipate as I walk– or more likely I am too tired to continue to care. ๐ Either way, it does me good.
It’s not light enough to go to the park after work yet (it closes at dusk and I get out of work at 5:00) but there is a gym at work so I can walk on the treadmill. Haven’t had the energy lately what with the holidays and being sick (still coughing a bit but getting better, slowly). I could walk around my neighborhood if it’s not too cold; it’s safe enough traffic-wise, though the lighting isn’t great. Rainy today, though. I would love to be one of those people who can get up early and exercise before starting my day.
On a side note, I stopped to get a receipt from my mom for one of the things I needed to return, and as I was leaving a neighbor was walking her puggle puppy, who I got to pet. She was so cute!!
Fkawaldenpond, I hear you about the Sunday blues and anxiety (just mild, not severe, but still) and yes, I find getting outside and walking really helps me feel better! My sister and I call that Sunday feeling PMS…PreMonday Syndrome!
Oh I may borrow your term Amyliz! ๐
Walking is helping with my mobility after spinal fusion surgery.
I force myself to move even when it seems the very last thing I want to do.
Walking is great exercise โcause itโs free and nearly always possible. I
walk around my house, not outdoors these days. Just trot around the
house.
I am glad to read you are up and very mobile Phred’s Mom– and you know, I agree, when I feel a walk is the last thing I want to do it is usually when I need it the most. I may not feel like it at the start but I have never got back and thought ‘Darn, I wish I hadn’t done that.’
Such fantastic fluffballs!!! And maybe they were trying for a punk/mohawk look this time.
Still trying to get over this crud I’ve had all week – it ended up being a sinus/ear infection so Dr put me on major dose of antibiotics. Starting to feel better, actually made it through a whole day of work yesterday. So weekend will be spent semi-relaxing while still trying to get a few things done then dinner with friends tonight. Hope everyone has a good weekend and stays warm.
Gorgeous kitties! My 13 year old kitteh, who never groomed herself much before (or needed to), now spends a lot more time doing so, and cat-licks happen quite frequently.
Driving to Seattle today to take my mom in for a blood draw and shot- something she has to do daily, but the shuttle to the cancer center only runs on weekdays so I’m her shuttle driver today. Then a little grocery shopping and lunch together. She had a bad day Thursday but they gave her a blood transfusion and yesterday she said she felt 100% better.
Feeling very thick this morning due to head cold. However, emotionally looking up, as I personally connected with three new friends this week, all of whom shone a beacon of light into my life.
Seeing all my doctors this coming week. Funny how you can look forward to something and yet not look forward to it.
The last few days here on the site seem to have involved a lot of floof. Red pandas, fuzzy sledding puppies, and now these two loveballs. Even the resolution cats were floofy. So, new resolution: add more floof to my life.
Happy weekend, everyone.
Last night I felt under the weather so all I wanted was to go to bed in time and have a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately my kitties had different plans. They made use of me being slower than usual so they both escaped ๐ I was looking for them until midnight but then I was not able to continue because of my high temperature so I went to bed crying. Thankfully I was woken up from my fever fuelled nightmares at dawn when Marci came home and meowed for me to be let in. I fed him and told him off for scaring me and of course he just looked at me pretending to be innocent. It was already snowing and very windy. Then I heard a terrible scream, Felix must have been fighting another cat. By the time I got some clothes on and went out, he had been gone. So I continued looking for Felix in the whole neighbourhood and gave up again at noon when there were too many tears frozen on my face. Because of the cat search I neglected shovelling the snow, so I had to start working on that. After about 2 hours of shovelling I decided to take some rest and have at least some symbolic breakfast. I didn’t have much appetite as I didn’t know how badly he had been injured and if I could find him in the snowstorm. As soon as I made a sandwich, he just walked in and took the ham from it ๐ I dried him and fed him and the big boy fell asleep in my arms. So I put him into bed and went to enjoy some more shovelling.. Guess what the evening program is? More shovelling as the snowfall shows no intention to stop. I could use some rest ๐
So glad your boys came back. When my guys scare me like that, Iโm torn between screaming my head off or hugging them till the marshmallow fluff comes out their ears.
A complete nightmare with a happy ending. The snowstorm and the shoveling added so much to the misery of the story that it was almost – almost – comical. I would probably be too afraid I’d lose my cats to ever open a door to the outside again.
An advantage to living in an apartment building – if I opened my front door and Wacket ran out, it was only into a hall. By the time he got close to the elevators, he’d be looking back at me. When it seemed to him I was too far away, he would run back and dash into the apartment!
Keep an eye on your boy – our cat had an interaction similar to this and I didn’t know she’d been injured until a few days later when I could smell the infection – really nasty. Hopefully your cat’s interaction was merely a verbal tete a tete.
Yes, lovely floof balls and the husky was rof-ingly hilarious.
You had a nerve whacking time. I’m glad your kitties came back to you. They do vex us so at times but we can’t help but love them.
So glad your babies are home safe. It’s terrifying when they disappear like that. I still have nightmares about George Weasleycat’s walkabout in 2016.
Thanks for the emotional support to all of you, tbh I needed that.
Murray was right, I found some well hidden minor injuries. I treated them which was rewarded with a bite and a scratch ๐
I was so happy to see Felix again, at my weakest moment I promised him I would send a weekend open cat application to Mike if I find usable pictures of the big snowball ๐
Sounds like everybody is under the weather this week–so sorry! Soccersue, you’re taking great care of your mom; don’t forget to take care of yourself too.
Penny and Teller are always welcome here, catlicks or not. And that floofpup had me howling too, though in a different way. Thank goodness he has the sense to recharge when he runs down!
Just ended today’s mudding session in the bathroom. There’s nothing like getting all covered in gloop and then taking a hot shower and putting on clean clothes. I’ve still got things to accomplish today while the joint compound dries, but at least I’m clean!
Hot showers are a luxury I’m glad is common in this day and age.
DEBG, you never cease to amaze me – I wish I were confident in those areas. I’m struggling with the idea that I need to recaulk a bathtub. Trying to figure out how to get the old caulk out – went on Pinterest which was full of ideas but not sure which was best. Always nervous when they say “make sure there is adequate ventilation” – that’s something my bathroom is very short on.
You can do it, Murray. I have done caulking several times. Think of
it as decorating an inedible cake. Principle is the same.
?
There are little plastic devices you can buy that are meant to dig out old caulk. Unless somebody used crazy glue last time, you shouldn’t need ventilation–just plenty of elbow grease.
For the new caulk, place masking tape on each side of the line you’re caulking. Squeeze in the new stuff and press it down with your finger or a sponge; make sure the edges don’t sit above the masking tape. Then, when it’s dry, pull off the tape and you will have pristine caulk lines.
Oh, yes, I have one of those and it is no match for what’s around my tub. It’s the softening stuff that you need the ventilation for. I bought some but found out I should’ve gotten the foam version so it would stay in place and do its job. Pinterest is full of advice but, man, the instructions are amazingly dense – many, many steps. It’s a little off-putting (off puttying???) I guess I’ll wait ’til spring when I can keep the window open. But thanks both DEBG and Phred’s Mom for cheering me on. I envision putting little florets around the edge of the tub.
Happy New Year Everyone! I’m finally getting caught up on these things.
I agree with the floof assessment and also agree that I can’t have too much of that in my life! Bring it on.
I was in So Cal for the holidays with family which was wonderful. My nephew and niece are adorable and it is such a delight to watch them grow. I actually have no idea what gifts I received, I was so much more interested in what I got them. I knitted a shark and a whale and also gave my nephew wooden, magnetic vegetables that he can really “cut” in half. He loves them and has apparently served everyone who has stopped by. How fun is that? When I got back to Phila. I took an extra few days off of work to make nice with my floofsters who were quite peeved that I abandoned them, even though my wonderful neighbor checked in and doted on them at least twice a day.
For all of you who are ailing whether temporary or longer term, I wish you good healing and hope for good health soon. Sending lots of Cutetropolis hugs to all of you!
Getting gifts for the kids is the best thing about Christmas as a grown-up. I’m an aunt twice over and just seeing their little faces light up and all the excitement of Christmas is what makes the holidays for me.
Okay, my mind is blown. And I want some salad.
This is cake.

Here’s some apples for everyone.
Sharon H here, sitting on a deck chair on my cruise ship, waiting for the life boat drill so we can leave port. I’ll be on the high seas for 10 days and told Mike he won’t be getting any pix from me, to post. Hope you all have a delightful few weeks.
Sure, rub it in, why don’t ya’?
Have fun!
Sharon bon voyage! (But we will be missing you and your great submissions.) ๐
Bon voyage and safe journey!
Enjoy! Cruises are so much fun and pretty much force you to disconnect from the life electronic for the life aquatic.

? say wha’???? Hilarious.
Well, it’s 11:47 my time, eastern US, and there’s a Christmas Carol called The Gooding Carol that says “Christmas hath made an end, Well-a-Day, Well-a-Day, Which was my Dearest Friend – More is the Pity.” Farewell ,Christmas, for another year, I will miss your sparkle and fun, the music, the parties, the decorations. Tomorrow (or in a month or so, given my procrastination) the house will be its old drab self again.
