It all happened so fast. I came to see Mama Duck and she said hi and I said hi and she asked if I would watch the eggs for a few minutes and I said sure and once she was gone the eggs hatched and they all looked at me and said “Mama!”

You don’t have to be the same to be family.
So Do We Quack? Woof? What?
Their mom is a labdrador: they lick children and eat everything not nailed down.
I have a chorkie (wawa/yorkie mix) and she licks children too. Just children. Not adults. I can not figure out why. If my nephew gets near her, she will lick his face until we force them apart. And she does it whether his face is clean or not. Does she know they are young ones and want to clean them?
Yep. The features that make puppies cute–big eyes, awkward movement, short legs with oversized feet–are pretty much universal markers of juveniles. In general, species that raise their young instinctively recognize and respond to those features.
Posts like this are why I’m a Cutetropolitan.
We really need a Brother from another Mother or Cross species family tag.
But in this case I think it’s all the same mother.
Maybe add the duckbilled platypup from yesterday into this charming family photo?
This is why I never volunteer to babysit. Imprinting happens fast.
Oh, you beat me to it! Yes, they’re definitely related.
I loved this book when I was little: http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780679890478
The itty bitty wing on the duckie at the front!
I hope this is not a hunting dog, or there is going to be some serious conflict in the future.
(I was going to say itty bitty wingie at first, but knowing the sense of humour some of us are possessed by, I thought it might go in an unexpected direction.)
I love duckie posts cos I know Duckie will always have something insightful to say!
