Coraline the penguin takes a bath at Maryland Zoo
Penguins might seem like natural swimmers, but when they’re young they need to get some practice and become accustomed to the water. That’s why the staff of the Maryland Zoo gave Coraline, an African penguin chick, a quick bath in the sink. Soon she’ll be ready to swim in the big pool!
Not much room for laps in there…
Baby seemed pleasantly surprised
She’s so FLUFFY!!!
LOVE the way the towel looks like a jacket/coat when it’s wrapped around her at :33.
Go feetses, go!
She’s adorable!
It’s kind of like a bunny slope, only for swimming.
Love how she re-fluffs herself at the end. “Just right!”
I volunteer to be Coraline’s official dryer-offer after all her swimming sessions!
I would wash penguins all day. The look of affection she gave the keeper just about killt me ded. And the shivering made me howl–so meta for a penguin to feel cold! (Yeah, I know, she was probably just fluffing herself up again, but let me have my little dream.)
I started singing Shake It Off when she did that.
