This cat has big honkin’ ears, and a big honkin’ nose, and a big honkin’… honk. Where other cats let out a meow, this one lets loose with a honk that sounds like a party favor. “This kitty sounds like my old bike horn,” notes sender-inner Allein S.

I donβt know what it is or where to get one but I gotta get one after Millie passes on. Omgosh.
Right?! what a fantastic goombah!
Why wait? Millie might love it!
What kind of cat is that? Looks like Dobby π
Could be Oriental Shorthair.
Yup, she’s titled another video “Living with Oriental Shorthairs.”
I would name a cat like that Dobby! It’s perfect.
Right on target – I see she even titled one of her other videos “the dobbycats” but I haven’t viewed it yet.
He sounds like a party favor!
I played the video and Bibi woke up from her nap, ears at alert!
I think Barbra Streisand turned into a cat!
I’m with you, Murray C! “Poppa can you hear me NOW?????”
I’m in love. What a cutie!
OMG – I think Iβm in love.
I kinda love it when Mike takes a while to post something. I totally forgot I sent it.
Also, I lied. I didn’t have a horn on my bike. π
Definitely in the market for an oriental shorthair when my lifestyle allows it! They are more like dogs than cats, play fetch, love to hang out with their humans, not allergenic, and the ones I know are little and lithe!
Aww, that kitty sounds like a sweet, adorable clown cat. Would only be more surreal and cute if that mew came out when you booped his nose.
Just a word of warning to people who want an Oriental breed of any kind, including Siamese– be sure you’re okay with the cat’s level of talky. I grew up with a semi-longhair who almost never meowed unless something really dire was happening. So when I’m in the room with a yakky oriental type, I spend half the time going, “What? What’s the problem? Where’s the fire? What is it? WHAT?”
I’m sure they’re fine cats for the right people– just something to consider that might prevent a few people from making a misfit decision. Try before you buy, or adopt, or whatever!
Oh yes! Our burmese cats are nonstop talkers. Day and unfortunately also at night (earplugs ftw!). So when meeting another cat breed, I am always surprised about how quiet they are π
Stars is so quiet that I love when she talks (she actually talks more now since her brother left us; I wonder what she’s saying…). If it was all the time I’m not sure I’d like it so much (kinda like certain people I know…hmm…).
Showed this to my husband and his comment was, “I don’t know what that thing is, but I bet it’s from Australia!”
I’m going with bat-eared honking cat-rat. And I want one.
Love the little honk/squeak and yes, it would be fantastic if s/he made the noise when the nose was booped.
