It’s just not possible that the dog really had that expression – smug, sly, evil satisfaction at revenge taken. That face should be available to use as an emoji.
I was just thinking that exact same thing. Facial expression and body language couldn’t reveal any more emotions!!
Now see, i interpreted that expression as “I’m so sorry i didn’t mean to do it I’m your sweet wittle doggeh.” She looks like shes about to go down into that kinda crouch where she covers part of her head or puts her tail between her legs. But i can totally see it as an evil face now that its been pointed out. Weird!

I actually had to use the dog ate it excuse for my husband’s passport. It was on the keyboard tray of the desk out of view and somehow she still found it and used it as a chew toy. Passport office said I need to fill out a form with what exactly happened and bring that in plus the damaged passport to get a new one. Luckily (?) the passport had one corner taken off with teeth indents visible so no one could say I was making it up.
What a great (and too typical!) dog story. 😁
