Sleep in it? Are you kidding? This, for your information, is a brand-new, top-of-the-line Nap-Itat 3500 from Katatonic Sleep Systems, the gold standard for next-gen cat bed technology. Climate-controlled, soundproof with a library of soothing background noises, and I paid extra for the heated memory foam mattress. So no, of course I don’t sleep in it. Would totally ruin the resale value.

That may be my dearly departed Dad reincarnated in cat form. Dad never believed in wearing new clothes that were gifted to him and often left other new items untouched to save them “for good”. He had the original box for every item in the house so that he could re-sell or re-gift in original packaging.

My mom was like that. We had what we called “show & tell” towels (remember show & tell from grammar school?) because God forbid they should ever be used. 🙂
And the little soaps?
My husband keeps all the original boxes for things just in case they brake and we have to take the item back. The problem is he never gets rid of the boxes even when the guarantee as long run out or even when in some cases the item has been discarded.
I have to admit that’s me.

The one thing we couldn’t touch in the house was a bowl of candy that was always on the living-room coffee table. My mom used to say they were sticky for company but I don’t remember them being offered when people came to visit because they usually sat in the kitchen (it’s a Québec thing we always gather in the kitchen).
Actually now that I think about it, those candies just happened to be red and white peppermint hard candies her favorite kind of candy. Clever mom! LOL!
Cat logic, works for me. But I would really love that heated memory foam mattress, that sounds to-die-for especially in the winter. Maybe kitty would finally give in on some cold, damp winter evening when that warm spot would be too inviting to resist – resale value be dammned. Plus don’t you know it loses 50% of the resale value as soon as you take it out of the box??
AJ, sounds like you need a heated mattress pad. It’s one of the best purchases I ever made. I use it about 8 months out of the year.
