Totally off-topic laugh.
Apparently my Easter Sunday science lesson on wombats was seriously disapproved of by my younger nieces/nephews’ father. He attempted to raise a protest on their way out, but since I tend to ignore him anyway, I was not aware. According to him,scientific conversation about animal digestion is unsuitable for a family discussion. My sister, his wife, calmly looked at him and told him that it was perfectly acceptable for the children’s aunt to teach them science and nature, that she preferred it MY way to having the kids dissect one in school and discuss it, that he KNEW how outrageous I was before they got married, that my outrageousness frequently led the kids to study other things voluntarily, and if he still had a problem with it, she would cheerfully sign the divorce papers for him!
Apparently other family members who heard their whole conversation couldn’t stop laughing until today, which is why it took so long for me to be told. And because I am an outrageous aunt, for the Victoria Day gathering, I’m going to bring fudge cut up in little cubes!
I wish you were my aunt.

This story has made my day!! I can only aspire to be the same kind of aunt to my brood of nieces and nephews (which now stands at an even dozen). Plus the fudge is a genius touch, the dad will be probably be apoplectic when he sees it.
I certainly hope he’s apoplectic. Finding good ways to cause him distress him is one of the joys of my life. My 18 nieces and nephews are another. I like to think that, even if I could not have children of my own, I am properly corrupting the next generation.
It’s a fact, kids like to talk about poop. If talking about weird wombat waste gets them interested in wombats, good for you! My granddaughter loves to make poop jokes, and even got prank poop for her birthday, and a giant poop emoji pillow for Christmas.
I think I might draw the line at a poop pillow. Unless it was for my BIL.

Okay so I kinda missed that this was about poo. Even though now I am less confounded, my opinion still stands! And I can add that anyone who knows kids would know they love stuff like that!!
My BIL sees anything I say or do regarding his kids as interfering in his parenting. I keep telling him (when I choose to talk to him) that I’m not parenting, I’m aunting. And that if he feels threatened by how well I aunt with his kids, maybe he needs to rethink his parenting.
I like “aunt” as a verb. 🙂
