I have to cheer for the Verizon worker who risked his life to save a kitty. I understand why the company had to suspend him without pay. They can’t encourage their workers to take risks and break safety rules but it’s great that other people came together to help compensate him for his lost wages. A good deed by him and others.
I signed the reinstatement petition. Frankly, I think there are MUCH better ways to reinforce safety regs than forcing a worker and their family to go without just because the worker was humane enough to do a good deed.
Agreed. The appropriate punishment for this kind of thing is make them teach the regular safety refresher courses or whatever.
Take it or teach it. Having to teach it might indeed be more effective!
If it’s done at the request of a community agency like the police or fire department, then I would think things can be waived.
BTW, they’re finally passing a law that if you break a car window to rescue a dog in a hot car, it’s ok.
Where are they passing this law? I think this is a state by state thing in the US. Personally I’m all for it—that is, I’m all for this new law, wherever it may be.
I think we got the law here in Massachusetts recently.

I had seen the photo of the 2 cats cudgelling their kittens but I hadn’t seen the sweet video.
I know it says “cat parents” as in mom and dad but you can clearly see kittens nursing on both of them so it looks like 2 moms.
I hope they’re not cudgelling their babies! 😛
