Although many beliefs about cats have their origins in folklore and superstition, there are some that are at least partially rooted in scientific fact. Take for example the belief that cats have nine lives. Although this is not literally true, cats are able to protect themselves by generating a rainbow energy shield, which makes them invulnerable for short periods of time.
