Welcome to another peaceful, relaxing Caturday in Cutetropolis, and nobody’s more relaxed than Biff, from reader James D. “Old Man Biff likes the catnip garden,” he says. “A lot.”
“We are not actually sure how old he is due to a late and unplanned adoption, but suppositions put him at somewhere in the range of 12-16. His favorite things are attention, standing on shoulders and cat treats.”
I have a very busy day today for my birthday. First I’m going for brunch with my husband and then we are meeting friends in Old Montreal for our annual get together diner at The Keg and then for drinks at a cute little bar not far away, it’s going to be a fun day!
I will probably be scarce recuperating tomorrow, I don’t bounce back from evening on the town as fast as I did in my younger days (wink wink LOL), so have a good weekend everybody!!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like a great celebration.
Good on you for adopting an older kitty! Biff is obviously living his best life!
Happy birthday,Gigi! I took Thursday and Friday off.OnThursday, I went with a friend to a paint-your-own pottery place. I painted a butter keeper. It’ll be ready to pick up next weekend; I’m sure it will be a real masterpiece! Yesterday, I went to see “The Last Black Man in San Francisco”, which I would describe as haunting. Then last night I went to a Lights for Liberty vigil protesting the immigrant detention camps. (There were events nationwide.) There were probably 250-300 people at the event in my town. Later this morning, Farmer’s Market and then just relax. Have a great weekend everyone!
I saw “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” also and would definitely recommend it. Touching and revealing of the human costs of gentrification and other social ills.
Bon anniversaire mon ami and have a magnificent time. Enjoy all the festivities and a relaxing day tomorrow.
Bon anniversaire!
Happy day, Gigi! Enjoy your celebrations!
Happy Birthday Gigi! I’ll toast you later today. ๐
Happy birthday, Gigi!
Happy, happy birthday, Gigi! Enjoy every minute!
Happy Birthday, Gigi!
Happy Caturday to everyone else!
Those kittens are too tiny and adorable to be real!
Hi everyone. Happy birthday, Gigi! Big pruning plans today. Very exciting. Shaggy shrubs soon to be round. Added bonus: weeds to pull & high humidity. (Who am I kidding about the excitement? Itโs boring to type those words, let alone execute on the plan. Though I do like the look of my garden when these tasks are done.)
Good luck Gigi with the gardening and drink lots of water. I was planning to redo most of the yard in the house I’m renting but when I saw the cost, well those plans have been put on hold. I’m just going to weed whack the worst areas and then say I’m enjoying a back to nature landscape. LOL
Exciting day for me here too. Heading off shortly to an organized day tour down Mexico way, touring Ensenada and having a lovely lunch with shopping! Should be fun, just hoping there’s no delays crossing the border either way. And I’m very thankful for a co-worker who has family there and she got recommendations for restaurants so no tourist traps for me.
And then tomorrow get to wave bye-bye to hubster as he’s off on a week-long business trip. Don’t feel too bad for him, he’s heading to Hawaii. After dropping him off, I’ll probably run errands and hang out with friends. Then if it gets too warm, it’s pool time and bbq!
See everyone for Bunday!
James D., I think Biff would roll himself a big old doobie of catnip if he could. He’s gorgeous and obviously living life to the max.
I’ve had an exciting week, breaking into my own basement. Last Sunday, a heavy metal object fell over and jammed it closed. The only way in was through a window. I chose a window I wanted to replace anyway, then my lawn guy and I burgled (bungled?) our way in. New window should arrive next week, and then I’ll learn another handy DIY skill!
Cat drama has also increased. Fred seems back to his old self except for some wobbly walking–he moves like some of those kittens in Allein’s video. We were worried he might crash once the antibiotics wore off, but I’m less concerned now that I’ve seen his energy level. However, my oldest girl Ursula has become very disoriented and seems dehydrated. She’s lost a lot of weight over the past few months and appears to be fading away. The new symptoms mean I may have to make that awful decision very, very soon. So I’m anticipating a low-energy weekend while I try to keep her comfortable and process my grief. I’ve known her since the week she was born, 17 years ago in May. If you all can keep her in your thoughts, I’d be most grateful.
I’m so sorry about Ursula. But I have my fingers crossed. You never know, e.g., Fred. But if there’s nothing to be done, she’ll love to have you with her.
I am so sorry to hear this news about Ursula. Felix is sending some strength to Ursula and comforting purrs to you.
Bibi and I send best wishes to Ursula, and of course to you and Fred Weasleycat, too.
Pawsitive vibes and prayers. Mom loves you Ursula hang in there.
17 years old, she is the grande dame of the household. Hugs to both of you.
Happy Birthday Gigi!
Many happy returns, Gigi! And fingers crossed for Debg’s Ursula.
My dad has been at home for a week now and is doing reasonably well. We’ve been to the park three times, and had a bit of drama on the first occasion when he misjudged the distance between his wheelchair and walking frame when we got home. He collapsed in slow motion, rather like a failed soufflรฉ, fortunately injuring nothing but his dignity when a burly passer-by helped me get him on his feet again. Come to think of it we had a bit more drama on the way to the park yesterday, when two cars collided just a few feet away from us as we crossed the road!
Iโm glad Dad is enjoying life more now. I love the imagery of him being a failed souffle.
Thatโs exactly how I collapsed last year. Simply sagged to the floor, slowly and softly.
Not much happening in Duckie Condo this week. Blood work, laundry, pills, dishes. You know.
Next week is hubby’s last week at the detestable job, and the week after he starts much-better-job.i’m personally not happy about it, because it means he starts work at five AM instead of seven. I need to adjust meal schedules accordingly, and that will be hard on me. But he is so happy, so I’m not saying anything.
Weight loss continues at a steady pace, unintentionally accelerated on Tuesday by a cherry binge.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I’m sending a massive general feathered hug to everyone.
PS Mike, did you rescue the defibrimathingy from the old ranch? After that kitten video, I think we’re going to need it.
“PS Mike, did you rescue the defibrimathingy from the old ranch? After that kitten video, I think weโre going to need it.”
Oops, sorry. ๐ณ
Why?
I didn’t want for anyone to need defibrimathingization.
(Dear Spellchecker: it is so a word!)
Not for me.
For hubby.
Hugs back to you, Duckie. I admire your determination to soldier on.
Good one.
That’s hysterical!! Need to save and post on my bulletin board to remind when I think I need to foster kittens, especially the bottle babies.
Three cheers for homicidal muffins!
Love the scroll-down text!
