Links are lovely as always. Those miniatures are fascinating but I’d be blind if I even attempted that type of work. And I love puppers taking the lady’s hand oh so gently and bringing her to the treat bowl. Not a very subtle hint but hey, it works. Got a few sniffles reading about the wawa tucking himself in at the shelter, so glad he found a home to live out his golden years.
Sad news today, last night my foster kitty Kemuri moved on to his next foster home but it was rough. I wish we could talk to animals and make them understand why we’re doing things. Once I got him into the carry box, man was he pissed off and he let us know. Yowling and carrying on the whole way to the foster center. But it had to be done, cruise ships won’t let you bring pets on board. All I know is that I’m done with doing long term fosters, way too hard on both me and the animal. I’m only going to do fosters that have a definite end date – like two/three weeks before they have a procedure done, a couple weeks til kittens get up to weight and can be spayed/neutered. I just hope sweet boy finds a forever home soon, he’ll make someone a great cat.
Regarding miniatures, I’ve built models off and on since I was a teenager, but about when I hit 30 I broke down and got a dentist-style magnification head thingy. Now the limiting factor is my shaky hands.
AJ, Kemuri will forgive you and heโll find the right home.

Love the kitty “glow ups.” On July 4th Facebook gave me a memory of Stars and Stripes on the day after they came home (7/4/2006, seven weeks old) so I posted it along with a pic of Stars from a few days earlier (last week’s Caturday open thread pic of her sleeping on the couch). Didn’t know there was a name for such a thing. ๐
AJ – sorry you had to part with Kemuri. I hope he adjusts well and finds a furever home soon. Have fun on your cruise!
I think I need a Russian Blue. They match my couch. And my bedspread (though little claws would made short work of my bedspread. Not the most cat-resistant fabric, there…). ๐

I’m so mad reading about the fur trade – I honestly thought that people no longer wore real fur. Morons. ๐ก
That dog who freed the tied up dog is amazing. If I hadn’t seen the video I never would have believed it. But my favorite link is the one about the senior chihuahua who tucked himself in every night – I am a huuuuge sucker for senior dogs in general and senior wawas in particular so this story really hits close to home. ๐
While I don’t agree with the fur trade, I am tempted to tell the government they should consider investing in it again. They want to kill wolves to help the caribou population increase. If you are going to destroy the animals anyway, use profits from selling the fur to pay the cost of killing them instead of using the taxpayer’s money.
I’d much rather they found a sensible solution to the problem, one that lets both species live.
Those Russian blues are amazing. And the kitten glow-ups did make my day!
So happy for Scooter the wawa. Iโd think about adopting senior cats down the road, but wouldnโt be able to handle the pain of losing them. Still crying over my beautiful Ursula every now and then.

Loved the story of the stray who “freed” the pet dog. A very smart and wonderful animal.
