Lamb Bus Now Boarding

Now and then, a photo comes along of such epic cuteness that no possible caption I could write would do it justice. Fortunately, somebody on Reddit wrote this explanation:

Mule nannies are used in Italy when grazing animals are moved from high pastures down to the plains. Newborn lambs are unable to make the journey own their own. They ride in pouches of a specially made saddle. At rest stops lambs are returned to their mothers for a meal & some nuzzling.

Are we there yet?

Submitted in epic fashion by Gigi the cat lady. UPDATE: More mule nanny photos here (thanks, AJ)!

        I can’t even.

      I’m not even trying . . .

This is actually dangerous. This level of cuteness could rupture the space/time continuum. Plus, mule nannies!!!! COME ON!

I seriously felt a sensation in my head that I don’t know how to describe. Thank goodness I don’t have to drive home for another 20 minutes.

And that is why God invented segueways and that creepy thing that climbs stairs.

And how do you breed with a sterile/infertile mule?

Good question. Maybe they mean they’re breeding the donkeys with stronger horses to produce stronger mules?

My thought, exactly. How the heck?!?!?
          Mules are what’s needed.

    Gahhhhh … thunk. ₛₚₗₒᵣₜ

I thunked just after you. Really, mule nannies, those baby lambs in the saddle, are too cute. I think Mike has caused us peeps to experience similar symptoms of “cute overload”. Next time, he needs to caution us to view content at one’s own risk of too much cute. LOL

What kills me the most when I first saw it is that all the baby lambs are facing backward and I want to believe it’s so they can see that mommy is following and not be scared.

I volunteer as a lamb nanny!! I may not literally be a mule, but my husband uses me as a human pack mule, so I have experience! Where do I apply? (Seriously, on our last vacation this guy looked at us, turned to his companion and said in a contemptuous stage whisper, “That guy’s using his wife as a pack mule!”) Luckily I don’t think my husband heard him.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom September 16, 2019 / 8:21 pm

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ll sign a voucher for you as a qualified lamb nanny. Just send the paperwork care of Bibi.

My husband would have been quite pleased with that comment, AB. He lived in Japan for a number of years, where older women not only walk a dutiful three paces behind their husbands, but are the beasts of burden. He used to try to stick me with all the packages as a result. It went over about as well as you’d expect!

The mule nannies, on the other hand, are so insanely cute that I have turned to a puddle of goo. I may not be good for the rest of the WEEK, this one is so cute!

So you don’t plan to have a “Cute overload” tag, Mike?

    • phredsmom September 17, 2019 / 1:18 pm

Might have been good if hubby had heard him.
