Rats, I Missed the New Year’s Party!

Xin nian kuai le! Yesterday was the start of the Lunar New Year. In the Chinese Zodiac, 2020 is the year of the rat, a symbol of fertility and abundance. Looks like our little friend got lots of lucky red envelopes with an abundance of cash!

I’m usually not a rat fan but this little one is just adorable. And s/he looks so excited being the mascot for 2020.

Plus I learned something new today. I always knew Happy New Year in Chinese as Kung Hei Fat Choi!! Turns out this is Cantonese and the first sentence in this post is the Mandarin version. Now I have two ways to wish my friends Happy Chinese New Year.
