I just got disconnected so let me try this again. I always find some comfort and some humor here. Today it’s all comfort. Maybe that’s just what I happened to need but I’m very grateful. The teddy bears started to melt my heart and the hamster finished me off. Thank you, Mike. ❀

Love the little hammie crawling into the hand. My neighborhood has been doing a teddy bear hunt too. Every few days I keep moving him to different places in the front yard so the kids have to really look for him. I’ll have to check and see if I still have my stuffed monkey and put him out too.

Those Costa Rican photos are stunning! I’m in love with little Appa the kitty. Love the teddy bear story–very cool for people to join in. Must save baby zebra and doggie pix for later; it’s time to get to work!

    Teeny Hammie! I want one!

I’ve also heard of people drawing rainbows (posted in windows, chalk on sidewalks/driveways, etc) for kids to look for.

    Will look at rest later.

      And hearts, in Canada. πŸ™‚

      • Dulcie April 3, 2020 / 11:33 am

Yes hearts ❀️ here in Canada.
In spite of the fact that your President has no hearts for us, I know your people do. I can tell by this site. The border means nothing to us. Keep loving and caring for each other.
Thanks so much for this site Mike. I especially needed it today after hearing that nasty nasty man say “no masks to Canada”. It literally made me cry.

Whatever he said I didn’t hear it (yet; I’m sure at least a couple podcasts will cover it). I hope to hell he gets voted out in November.

Oh Dulcie, I’m so sorry – lots of US have hearts for you ❀️❀️❀️

Honestly, I don’t think any one cares or listens to him at this point.

How about a cyber hug instead?

Tara, Kar and Allein…this is why we need Mike and this site. Support and love with a big dose of cute and humor. This transcends all! Tx for the hugs. And right back at you and your friends and families.

I have to admit that last week when he said he was going to put troops along the Canadian border to prevent infected Canadians from crossing into the States I ignored it. Like really??

The ABC affiliate in Chicago breaks away from his COVID-19 updates as soon as the experts finish talking because they consider the rest to be campaigning.

Also, for anyone not familiar with Chicago’s mayor, Lori Lightfoot, there are hilarious “Where’s Lightfoot?” memes popping up everywhere. My sister-in-law saw one taped inside somebody’s fridge with the caption, “You just ate!”

Stay safe and sane, everyone!! And thanks, Mike, for helping us do that. πŸ™‚

I knew nothing about Chicago’s mayor. She’s great! Thanks for the tip.

My cousin in Washington state watches NYS Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s daily briefing, and that’s all the news she wants for the day. He’s not so entertaining, but he’s turned out to be a real mensch.

My kitties are sending soothing purrs. Don’t listen to the nasty nasty man.

          • Dulcie April 3, 2020 / 3:05 pm

Great – thanks DebG… I was getting tired of putting my fingers in my ears and singing LA LA LA LA LA really loudly.

I πŸ’œloveπŸ’œ the little hammie! πŸ₯° This reminded me how much I miss having dwarf hamsters. sniff

  6. murkle46 April 3, 2020 / 11:21 am

Are those hamsters really that small when adults? They look small enough to use an egg shell as a house!

  7. Tara April 3, 2020 / 11:57 am

I had no idea the “hidden” items were everywhere! I sent the story to my sister in California, and her city (I think on the “next door” app) did the teddy bears last week, and this week they are doing easter eggs. Such a fun thing. I wish I had more kids in my neighborhood… but maybe I’ll just do it anyway.

I need the comfort today. We got a strata letter yesterday stating that our building’s fees are going to be going up drastically. We can’t afford an increase there along with everything else going on. I’m getting out my big teddy bear, turning off all lights except for the Christmas lights, putting on the fireplace DVD, and crawling under my fleece blanket for the day.

Oh, and for those who need it, too.

Oh man Duckie that is so very very bad. It is times like these that I hope Karma does its thing. I can’t imagine anyone with any soul at all doing this to anyone right now! Please take care. Maybe some legislation will come down to prevent this. I know that in most provinces in Canada no evictions can take place but not sure about fee/rental increases.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 3, 2020 / 2:10 pm

Duckie, I’m SO sorry. Your government really should be putting a moratorium on all increases and evictions, and a greatly lengthened payment plan for mortgages.

I don’t know what a strata letter is. Do you have any elected officials you can reach out to for help?

    • Kar April 4, 2020 / 12:56 am

I agree with the others, we’re about to go into a Depression and they do that? Sending virtual hugs to you too.

  9. Duckie πŸ₯ April 3, 2020 / 2:29 pm

It’s the elected officials causing the trouble, Ricky and Bibi’s Mom.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 3, 2020 / 2:32 pm

That’s appalling. I thought Canada would be better than here. πŸ™ I’m so sorry.

I’m so relieved that I own my house (humble as it may be) and that my dad and I can live comfortably on his pension and daytime attendance allowance. We have very little to complain about, even in the midst of a global disaster.
