(Let’s see… I think I’ll start with the toasted sesame seeds, then some of the wheat germ as a palate cleanser, then straight on to the corn and oats. Just a few hundred pecks on this window ought to do it…)
He’s going to have such a headache, Sharon H.
He needs to go to Maison du Noix!
Peeps, I’m having a very bad day. Not sick, nor is anyone in the family/friend circle, either.
I received unofficial word that, yes, a huge raise in strata fees will be on the agenda for our annual general meeting this fall, 125% or more. Because of COVID, our building insurance and maintenance costs are skyrocketing, and while we have enough in our strata’s savings to cover during the crisis, it won’t last. Hubby’s job right now is barely covering our bills; we can’t afford anything more. We know which options are open to us, but deciding is difficult. So many “what ifs” are plaguing me right now, right alongside everything else.
On a less depressing note, I found out that Duckie does have some vision problems. This explains a number of things, and has made some decisions for me about her. I will not be training her, because she can’t see what’s going on. Nor will I be getting her a friend, because she could end up being attacked. I found out by buying her a mirror for her cage. I held the mirror up to her, and she did not react. But she did respond to the light when I turned the mirror at an angle. So I have decided that she will be the world’s most pampered cage bird.
A laugh: I put the mirror flat on the bottom of her cage so that she could check out the light source if she wanted, without my being there. She noticed the reflection, cocked her head hysterically at it, and then proceeded to try to cover it up with seed husks. Brat.
I’m glad Duckie is giving you pleasure at a really difficult time. Financial worries are consuming. Everything is so impossible to predict. Things may work out better than we fear. Fingers crossed.
Duckie, we’re quite a ways away from fall, and “on the agenda” is not the same as “passed and confirmed.” So hang in there, because Little Duckie needs you—and so do we! (Bibi and me, but I suspect I speak for others, too.)
BTW, you seem to have been training Little Duckie pretty well; maybe not in a classical sense, but she’s responding well to you, and that’s a lot!
I’m sorry that you’re being challenged right now.
I wish that I could wave a magic wand and make it better for you all. Just know that there are people out there who care for you and want the best for you all.
I hope that you can continue to find laughs and joy despite this all
