Fiona’s Birthday Bubble Bath

Peeps, did we actually miss celebrating Fiona’s third birthday last January? Better late than never, and reader Murray C. shared this sudsy video of the plucky preemie and her mama enjoying a luxurious bubble bath! According to the Cincinnati Zoo, it’s completely safe for them, because they used a special soap made just for animals. In other words, it’s (wait for it) hippo-allergenic!

Never fear Mike, you didn’t miss her birthday. Under the You Might Also Enjoy section, the first post is when it was originally done. Double videos, double cuteness, double fun. Win-win for everyone!

Is it weird that I want to jump in there with them? Granted, it’s probably a little gross. But I could use the stress relief!

Hippos are used to operating in river water that probably is sometimes covered in scum, so this probably didn’t bother them, but I can’t imagine why they would have enjoyed it. It interfered with their vision from below water. They often breathe with nostrils barely above the surface — they could have inhaled bubbles, which would at best make them sneeze. This seems like projecting a human idea of what’s enjoyable on animals — like hugging dogs or dressing up cats. Sorry to be a ’nuffer. Happy Birthday, Fiona, and I trust you also got something more appropriate, like some extra lettuce.
