See, this would be one of the differences between cats and rabbits. My bun is thrilled that I’m home because it means he has free run of most of the house! Plus, time for extra ear rubs in the 2 hours before bed.😉 He is going to be sooooo disappointed when school starts up again!

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. It was 90 yesterday and supposed to reach that again today! Ugh.😣

Beautiful kitty and beautiful blep. Or is that an expression of disgust and dismay? With cats you never know.

6Rabbits you should come to my place, supposed to be mid-70s today. We’re starting off with some SoCal June gloom so it’s a little grey and cool right now, hopefully the sun will come out later.

Going to be busy doing a few errands and stuff around the house. I really really have to sit down at the computer and finish the taxes. Thank goodness, the IRS gave everyone an extra three months to file and pay but it just meant more procrastination on my end. Time to get motivated and just. do. it. Then I won’t have it hanging over my head.

    Happy weekend everyone!

    Happy weekend!
It’s a cool cloudy day here in Duckieville. Mother Duck is dealing with the consequences of a badly-misjudged bending over to pick something up, and now my tailbone feels like it’s coming out my left hip. Little Duckie is quiet. She lost a facial feather yesterday, one with a black spot on it, and now she looks unbalanced, like a six year old with a missing tooth. I, of course, am keeping the feather.
Take care, everyone, and stay safe. And (un)welcome to summer. Can’t wait for fall.

Unseasonably cool and cloudy here too Duckie. This June has been so caca. All the springtime gardening joy is being sucked out of me. Dammit. Just trying to grab on to something positive and it is getting harder and harder!!
Cats are definitely hard done by too, if they are exposed to the same hoomans, EVERY day, taking up their special “me time” home alone!
    P
On the other hand I know a few doggoes that think they’ve been transported to heaven!!
    Have a good weekend all…😁

My comment above looks a bit discombobulated. Somehow it was difficult to edit.
I wanted to add a PS for Duckie to feel better soon. A tailbone injury is such a pain in the butt. Ha ha such a lame pun I know! Butt seriously Duckie, I hope it does not keep you down for long. 💕

Happy Caturday. Slept in this morning. It’s one of those days. Need to make dessert for Father’s Day later. I’m going to try a variation on the brownie recipe I used for Mother’s Day. And use a different pan (it calls for an 8″ square pan, but I only have a 9″ so they’re thinner and easier to overbake; I googled and learned that an 8″ square pan is the same area as a 9″ round pan, which I also have, so I’m going to try that, and lighter cocoa, and maybe chocolate chips..? My mom is making dinner because she has a roast she needs to cook soon that is too much for just the two of them, so she said we could bring dessert (she originally said we could bring the sides but I guess she changed her mind). My brother asked what I was bringing but other than crescent rolls I have no idea what he’s bringing (because he rarely answers me in less than two days; my mom told me about the rolls).

Here’s something different: I got a message a few days ago from a website that has discussion forums for just about every TV show you can think of; I read and comment in the forums for several shows that I watch. They are recruiting some new volunteer moderators, and the message said I was nominated as someone who might “have what it takes.” I assume by a mod in one of the forums I’m active in. I don’t know what gives them that impression but I figured I’d find out more. They sent me some info on what a mod does and what is expected, and a questionnaire that I sent back last night. They said they would get back to me by the end of the month. Could be fun and interesting, could be stressful and aggravating (though at least where I read, the posters are pretty respectful and I’ve never seen outright trolling). Could be they don’t choose me in the end anyway. We’ll see.

I know it’s Caturday but here’s some helpful information I came across for dog people.

Update: My brother is bringing “crescent rolls and beer.” I feel like I’m doing more work, here. (Then again, he’s the one who picked up the food for Mother’s Day, which I didn’t really want to do, so I guess we’re even.)

  6. Dulcie June 20, 2020 / 2:40 pm

Volunteer moderator Allein! Sounds interesting! And hopefully legit 🤔. I am sure you would notice if the questionnaire was dodgy or invasive. Let us know how it turns out!
On the subject of recipes…does anyone have anything unique in the realm of bread pudding recipes? I know I could probably Google it but first hand is so much better!

    • allein 🐾 June 20, 2020 / 2:50 pm

It’s legit; it was through the site’s private messaging system from someone I know is a moderator. Mostly the questions were if I’m over 18, what time zone I’m in, can I commit to logging in once a day (Mon-Fri) to take care of any mod duties…

      • Dulcie June 20, 2020 / 3:09 pm

I think it would be fun (as long as it is not all consuming)!

      • Kar June 20, 2020 / 4:11 pm

Congrats on the nomination. That says something about how you’re regarded.

I still do some of those but I still miss the quaintness of that first generation of forums. Loved Televisionwithoutpity, io9 and the IGN and I remember when they didn’t even have mods on big network sites like the WB, we had to self-moderate. That went well [not].

        Now get off my lawn!!!

        • allein 🐾 June 20, 2020 / 4:36 pm

I discovered Television Without Pity (via my then-boss) not too long before it shut down. 🙁 Found this site because I was looking for a similar snarky recap site (though they’ve stopped doing recaps). A lot of people there are former TWoP-ers. (A few of my shows are recapped on AV Club, TV Line, and/or Vulture so I have to settle for that. Not quite the same level of snark, though.)

          • Kar June 20, 2020 / 4:57 pm

Awww, loved the recaps, were better than watching a lot of those shows. Especially the nicknames, just were so openly derisive if they felt the show needed it.

Calling LIz from Roswell the SHRILLBOT or making fun of Lana on Smallville. Still think of John Glover as “Magnificent Bastard.”

I honestly think part of the problem was their popularity, one of the first forums that the whole industry read and name checked in the said shows.

Such innocent times, remember trying to explain RottenTomatoes.com to people?

Aww little Piper blep. So cute. Methinks its a put-on though, I think even the cats are happy we’re home all the time. One of mine is konked out right next to me in bed, one has come in every hour, on the hour, to let me know he needs a few more crackers in his bowl, and the last is spread out all over the love seat. Life is pretty good for them right now. In my next life I want to come back as a cat to a loving home.

I’m in the Allein camp right now too, trying to figure out what to get my dad. I wanted to bake and mail him (overnight from Philly to California) a blueberry pie, his favorite. Yeah right. That is just crazy. I don’t have the money, never mind the environmental footprint of shipping a pie across the country! I’m sure they’ve got blueberry pies in California for delivery somewhere. That is this afternoon’s project. And Allein, I think you would make a wonderful moderator! Go get ’em! And grapenuts are only edible with whole milk and equal parts sugar to grapenuts.

Celebrated Juneteenth with my wonderful neighbor yesterday with a BBQ. The heat on the grill was perfect! I’m kind of a hit or miss charcoal lighter… we grilled spring onions and zucchini, burgers and hot dogs. I love grilled zucchini so much. Then we sat on the porch, socially distanced, while all of West Philly erupted in fireworks. It was with mixed feelings that we enjoyed the evening. We were upset for our pets, all of whom were unhappy at the noises, but also happy about the city’s joy.

Wishing all of you wonderful weekends! Hope your tailbone heals quickly Duckie. ❤️

I like my grape nuts with milk, honey, and sliced banana. Haven’t had them in forever.

      • N. Fritz June 20, 2020 / 4:21 pm

I got Grape Nuts last time I was home. I like them. They are versatile (hot ot cold) and they don’t get soggy like most cereals.

        • allein 🐾 June 20, 2020 / 4:37 pm

I used to eat them a lot when I was in college.

      • tara June 20, 2020 / 5:03 pm

I actually like them too! a lá my recipe of course. Never thought to add bananas though…
I can still hear the crunch in my head since it rattled every bone in my skull. 😉

    • Kar June 20, 2020 / 4:40 pm

I ended up sending him gift cards to Wendys. I’m not allowed to visit their residence site but he likes to get out of the house and that’s one of the few open places where they can go.

I am so over this COVID stuff.

Bought some strawberry soda that I should open up this weekend and used Juneteenth as an excuse to buy some red velvet cake.

Boy I’m late to the game today! Spent the morning sleeping. I was out for a walk yesterday and tripped and fell. Twisted my ankle, banged my new(er) knee and pulled a bunch of muscles in my back. Piper’s blep would be the perfect therapy!

    • Jan B. June 20, 2020 / 4:21 pm

Oops, I forgot Lily’s Napping Master Class!

Sorry about your accident. I hope you recover quickly. I can’t help but think Lily may be commenting on human klutziness with her languorous and elegant pose. Cats NEVER trip and fall!

    • tara June 20, 2020 / 5:05 pm

Oh boy – sorry for the twisted ankle! Hope it is minor.

  9. Dulcie June 20, 2020 / 6:41 pm

Ouch Jan! Put your foot up and make a play for some sympathy!

So I dropped my just paid off iPhone 7 Plus. I Had decided to be frugal and wait one year to upgrade. When it fell it landed right on the plugged in charging cord. Everything seemed fine. Later that night I go to plug in the cord and I cannot get my phone to start charging. Getting in the red zone. I freak! Broken phone. All my stuff is on there. I need to get an update on air conditioner delivery! They will skip me if I don’t answer! It won’t recharge and I won’t be able to wipe it! Begin to order new phone before old phone dies. Order iPhone 11 that I wasn’t going to buy and wipe old phone immediately. New phone comes the next day. Set it up. Plug in the charging cord…

It doesn’t charge! My old phone wasn’t broken! The charging cord was broken! $800+ being paid off to Verizon for no reason and hundreds of photos did not download to new phone while it created thousands of duplicates. Huge project to transfer photos from MacBook.

No clue the cord was broken! I’m an ass. 🤪 But new screen resolution is phenomenal.
