Let’s Make a Cat

Watch a skilled artist make cat heads from felt

This may be simultaneously the most relaxing and most exciting thing you’ll see today: Waku Neco, an artist who creates exact replicas of beloved cats for their owners to treasure. In this step-by-step chronicle, you’ll see the artist transform strands of felt into a face so lifelike you’d expect it to lick your hand.

Did you get the feeling she’d done this once or twice before? (wink, wink)

I agree that the end result is amazing but the in-process side is kind of creepy.

Like a weird post-mortum in reverse.

I wasn’t going to say anything, but yes, I too was creeped out. Even by the end result. The artistry is truly extraordinary, but it still gives me the heebie-jeebies. Ah, well … to each his own, she said as she kissed her cow.

I tend to agree. The portrait is beautifully done but it looks like taxidermy.

It’s the super-realistic eyes and the care taken to dye small bits of wool in many colors that make it kinda creepy.

The best part of the video was the real cat watching her in bewilderment. I’d be a little creeped out too if I saw somebody making a super-realistic replica of myself.

This was amazing and beautiful. I felt like the artist was truly working from her heart. ❤️

It made me cry for my beloved Ursula. Last week was the first anniversary of losing her.

        I bet she was sweet.

My sympathies, DebG. They never leave our hearts, and sometimes it just hurts.

I thought the video thumbnail was a real cat.
