I think those are plush toy mice, with other toy mice in the “audience,” which adds just a touch of creepiness to it all.

I had a roommate cat years ago that would pile his mouse toys in a particular corner, under a couch. I assume it was some kind of caching behavior, but at the time I called it Mousie Golgotha.
