    Such pretty kitties…

So today is my godson’s 6th birthday. They’re having a party, outside, about 14 people. I never actually told his mother if I was going to come or not…I hate that it’s even something I have to question. How long until we don’t have to worry about whether it’s safe to go have some cake in the backyard? 🙁

It’s a scary time. Here in the PNW, we legally cannot have a gathering of more than 6 people, and we’re on the low side of the outbreaks in the US. Maybe you can Zoom call into the party? It’s hard to give up seeing the ones we love, but so risky right now to see them.

For New Jersey right now the rules for outdoor gatherings (updated 10/22):

General outdoor gatherings must be limited to 500 people and social distancing must be practiced
There is no limit for outdoor gatherings for religious or political activities protected under the First Amendment.

          THAT…is not good! Yikes!

I don’t even want to be around 500 people in normal times.

              Seriously!! I agree!

They look like I feel this morning. It may be Saturday but my brain still woke me up at 0 dark 30. But I’m not as cute at 5 am as this two lovelies. Time to go find coffee.

    Hi everyone!
Again, thank you for all the warm responses to my info about job the last time.💜
We are in the mid fifties now and still in school. You know how hard it is to get kids to keep their masks up? Most under 10 have them under their nose or chin half the time. My most frequent phrase is “masks UP!”😷 It does help that I have only 7 kids in 2 groups and 8 in e-learning. Trying to stay positive and unstressed.👍🏼

The kitties are so cute! I would love to snuggle them! My bun lets me hold him about 10 seconds. He loves pets, but not being held.🙄 There ought to be some place where you can go play with wombats—or quokkas!—and capybaras roam around and lounge beside you. I would PAY for that right now!

Looking back over what I’ve written it’s not very sunny. Sheesh. 😑
Hopefully next writing will be better.🤞🏼

I just Stoated. The line went around the block so many times I couldn’t find the end of it, so I deposited my absentee ballot in the Board of Elections ballot box, got my sticker, and called it a day. I must say it was very exciting to see the line that long!

I voted today too. My assigned voting place was Madison Square Garden, as it was for a large swath of Manhattan, from at least 14th to at least the 30s, from the east side to the west side I waited on line for 5 HOURS! There were gazillion people. Everyone was pretty good-humored until we got near the entrance and discovered what a screw up the whole thing was. Near the entrance they divided us into three lines and let us in one at a time to go through three metal detectors. Everyone went through with their stuff and everyone set off the detector. No response from the staff. Then there were 12 voting machines. Georgia has nothing on the NYC Board of Elections on voter suppression!

Ooh, good for you for hanging in there! Rah! Rah! Rah! Isn’t the turnout great? Seriously, though, if they didn’t turn you away, then as far as I’m concerned, it’s not suppression … it’s just another one of the eight million stories in the Naked City. Real voter suppression is way, way worse than what you describe. (I know you know that.)

I was up on West 102nd Street, along with most of the UWS so far as I could tell. As I belong to several groups of COVID-19 vulnerability, I decided on balance that the better part of valor was discretion. But had it not been for the need to look after Bibi, I might have waited that long, too, anxious though the idea of going inside with a bunch of strangers makes me.

It was really pretty inspirational – so many people so determined to vote. I hope everyone’s votes really determine the outcome!

I voted absentee. In Ohio you can track online to see when your ballot is received. I took mine to a small neighborhood post office to mail on a Friday, by Wednesday it was received and ready to be counted.👍🏼
I also vote for everyone to have a fur family member (minimum 1) of their choice!

    • allein October 24, 2020 / 8:59 pm

New Jersey sent every registered voter a mail ballot (you can still go vote in person on election day but you will be filling out a provisional paper ballot if you do that, so I didn’t see much point). The county elections office is 3 miles from my house so I dropped it in the drop box there on my way home last Wednesday, and by Friday evening it was marked received on my tracking page.

Hi Allein, thank you so much for voting.

        • allein October 25, 2020 / 10:43 am

          👍🏻

This is my facebook cover photo right now (since I didn’t get a sticker). Will stay until after the election.

Indiana doesn’t allow you to vote absentee!☹️
