After a day of overeating followed by days of overspending, Dec. 1 will be Giving Tuesday, a day to donate and volunteer to help those with less to be thankful for. As always, Cutetropolitans are invited to share links to worthy charities in the comments, and visit charities featured in years past.

To determine which charities will spend your donation most effectively, review their rankings on Charity Navigator.
If you have a Barnes & Noble near you, buy a few kids’ books to donate to their book drive (each store partners with local organizations so the recipients will be kids in your community).
I wish that I could give to all of them.
Traditionally been a Meals on Wheels person, too many lonely, hungry elderly folks out there with no one else who knows that they’re alive or dead. However I’ve gotten sucked into the bats in recent years.
How about World Central Kitchen? Charity Navigator doesn’t have a score in all categories, but it gives it 100 on what it does score. (Also, go watch an interview with José Andres and see if you don’t come away smiling.)
I didn’t know about this organization! Thank you for mentioning it.
I love this tradition, everybody. Thanks for reminding me that humans can be good, not just stupid or evil.
There’s also the Wild Animal Sanctuary and Refuge, https://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org/ .
It is the largest wild animal sanctuary in the world. They have two locations totaling over 9000 acres with more than 600 animals rescued from all over the world. All the animals are able to be in large natural habitats. And if you’ve wondered about the animals that were at Joe Exotic’s “zoo”, many of them are now at TWAS, living the life they deserve.
I actually don’t know if it’s the largest in the world. That comes from an article in Coloradobiz. But it’s really big.
I’ve been there, and it’s fantastic. It’s my Amazon.smile charity.
Food Bank is ours, but specially baby supplies.
