These Netherlands troops are surreal
As they march to the bright glockenspiel
And the onlookers gawk
As they waddle and walk
For these geese are a big honkin’ deal

I never would have thought I would enjoy watching German goose stepping across a town. Of course it helps that the goose stepping is done by actual geese.
It’s the only acceptable kind.
Amen to that.
I love the calm seriousness with which the geese march
So I’m guessing that this is NOT in New Orleans, despite the music. Maybe closer to OrlĆ©ans…
Denmark
Actually Eschwege, Germany.
I don’t know if I could have stopped myself from joining that parade if I was there.
She’s playing fast and loose (as a goose?) with “You Are My Sunshine” on that glockenspiel.
Lots of sour notes, but what the heckāstill fun.
Literally late to the party with seeing this post and I really need to know the backstory. So surreal and so many questions, especially at 5 am on Tuesday, and being up since 4. Santa Ana winds are blowing through SoCal and they woke me up, then I thought there was something/someone in the backyard before realizing it was the wind. Itās already going to be one of those days and I see strong coffee in my future.
Hang in there, AJ!
I’ve found a number of pages that say something about the Open Flair Festival in Eschwege, Germany. It’s described as an annual “heavy rock” music festival, which I assume means either heavy metal or hard rock, or possibly both. I’ve found nothing to explain the geese, but as I don’t read German, there’s a limit to how much effective research I can do, even with the help(?) of Google Translateāwhich informs me that GƤnsekapelle means “Goose Chapel.” Yeah, I don’t think so.
