The holidays are a stressful time for many people, but they also offer hope for better times ahead. So reader J.M. and Dusty have some good advice.
The end of the chaos seems to be in sight. So, in the meantime, just relax and snuggle down and wait for the good to return. Dusty will show you how.
Can I snuggle with Dusty, please?
I am Dusty’s housemate and I have to tell you he is an excellent snuggler. π Allein, I love your comments and always look for them. I don’t know you, but I feel you are a very, very kind person. Take care! Stay well! And Merry Christmas!
Aw, thank you. π Merry Christmas to you!
What kind of pup is Dusty?
Dusty is a Finnish Lapphund — an ancient reindeer-herding breed of the Sami people of northern Finland. But he is an unusual colour. He’s a “cream”. But because so many people haven’t heard of this wonderful breed, I explain he’s like a lightly-toasted Samoyed. π He’ll be 2 in January, so he doesn’t have his full coat yet. Still growing up π
Lapphund. Quite appropriate…..
I will take Dustyβs advice later this afternoon. Still have dishes and laundry to do, first.
Happy Christmas Eve, everyone
Dusty is obviously a pro. And also very beautiful.
Samoyeds produce hair that supposedly spins into gorgeous yarn. How long is Dusty’s fur, J?
Allein is the life of our Cutetropolis party, indeed! Mike provides so much wonder and delight, and she adds to it!
Happy holidays, everyone.
lol…I assure you, it is the only party I will ever be the life of…
(…of which I will ever be the life?)
hm.
Okay, Debg, that is a question I’ve never been asked so I just pulled out a measuring tape to see π . He has a double coat. The longer, guard hairs are 15cm or longer (much longer on his tail). The softer, inner coat is 5cm or more long — it depends on where on his body I measure. (By the way, if he thought I was insane before this, I think he’s sure of it now!! π ) But I know he doesn’t have his mature coat yet because he’s still a pup. Apparently it takes somewhere around 3 to 5 years before his mature coat develops fully. Knowing absolutely nothing about uses of dog hair (outside of vacuum cleaner testing!!), I did a quick look and it seems the fur from a Samoyed that is used might be just from the undercoat. But Dusty lives in a tick-y area π so he gets a flea/tick medication (a pill) each month. I don’t know if this would go into the fur. Or just the skin?? Never gave it much thought before.
Iβd forgotten that dogs, like sheep, can have double coats! Thanks so much for checking. Heβd definitely be spinnable. Yes, I habitually look at crittersβ coats like this. If Dusty thinks youβre weird, he doesnβt want to meet me!ππΈπππ
Gives a new spin on the word “sheepdog”…
Multiple puns in that one, Allein! My hat is off to you!
“A lightly-toasted Samoyed” what a wonderful description.
Sounds like a lovely hors d’oeuvre… but this one is a tad bit over bite- sized. I’ll cuddle him instead.
Those ears look a bit nibble-ish to me…
J, could you please confirm that for me? And I third what you said about Allein.
Hi Duckie! Yes, his ears are very, very nibblish!! π He’s a good sport and tolerates all kinds of things his humans do to him.
